Cool What front fender are you running ??

Hey guys and gals !' Been looking for a fender for the front before the rains hit in a couple of months
what are you using or do you suggest I look at ???
I have a topeak rack on the back and fabricated an additional guard on the front stays to extend the
"fender" area so a back fender is not needed , just a front I have been looking at a TOPEAK FX front
fender ... But will it fit on my non suspension forks on my Trek 7000 ?
Thanks for your help ... JC

Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid, will fit perfectly (front and rear) on that Trek. If teh bike is black, it will even match - even though I do think they come in other colors, also.

Good luck. Fenders seem to usually come in sets.

I see what you mean now. I'm more of a full fender person, so hadn't thought of that.

Your rack does not cover as much of your rear tire as a planet bike cascade. We have cascades (very nice mounting hardware) and 35? Mm hardcore (nearly identical plastic fender quality) but mounting hw sux in comparison.

I'm a fan of planet bike fenders. Ours take a ridiculous amount of abuse.

Edit: don't waste your time w/the mtb style fenders. Coverage and styling is not that great. Been there tried that.

Not knowing what size tires you are running - my 700 Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid fenders measure 43mm internally - perfect for 35mm and smaller tires, adequate for 37-40 tires. I've had them for a couple years, and find them great, even the mounting hardware. No rattles, no breaks, fit perfectly. I especially like the external mount to the fender, as it keeps all of the available internal width "available'"

One thing I always do when mounting fenders, is extend the front mudflap 8 or so inches with pop rivets and rubber roofing material a couple inches wide. Makes a big difference in keeping everything clean. One of it's beauties is that it is so flexible that it offers no wind resistance. or reaction to toe strike; yet, still stiff enough to catch dirt and water.

p.s. I run a 40mm tire on the rear, and a 35 on the front.
