Mystery MultiTRACK
Vintage Trek is down, or I'd look it up myself. The other bike is a 1997 Mongoose Switchback, all Tange cromo. Ad here.

Looks like a repaint, and not a very good one. Downtube decal is not original: "Trek" didn't appear in that font/style till years later.
Honestly, looks a bit of a mess, and I wouldn't be tempted further. Lots of Trek hybrids out there in better shape.

Not around here, and certainly not in my size. Thanks for the repaint idea; it explains why I couldn't find it on Vintage Trek (via the Wayback Machine for the moment). It also explains how the chainstay paint got damaged. I'm going to try to see it in person, see what's what. Thanks again.

It's a early 90's bottom end model for Trek as indicated by the steel bars stem and cheap resign pedals yet for $60 for 2 complete bikes it seems a good deal.

I'm starting to think the Mongoose might be the better bike, something I never thought I'd say. Good thing it's too big for me.

Mongoose actually made some pretty nice bikes in the 80's and 90's including top end BMX and MTB's along with some nicer road bikes.

While not top end this Mongoose should be a solid nice riding basic hard frame and if in good shape is actually a bit nicer bike than the Trek worth more than the asking price if your just looking for a basic rider.

I already have some nice bikes, and the Mongoose is too tall for me; it looks to be at least a 19", and I ride 17". The seller has dropped them to $30. I'm still slightly tempted to go look at that Trek...

On second glance, I don't see a chain on the Trek. It might be a parts bike only. As long as you're OK with that, go for it. But it's my experience that a bike that's been poorly painted usually has other problems - trashed or incompatible parts.

Probably. Just wish someone would rescue that Mongoose.
