Ultralight racks
I just picked up a bunch of these. Im going to mount them on my red roadbike
But has anyone ever seen them before?

I had one once. I thought it felt a little "whippy" and was concerned it wouldn't hold much of a load.

yeah, guess so. I was tempted, very tempted but I tend to carry too much on any ride I take so that's why I shook my head at them. :-)

I mounted one up and very happy with the outcome.
I put good heatshrink on all the parts touching the frame
The rack is removeable with just your fingers, only the mount part remains
Packed for a small trip-
Jacket, Bathing suit,and a snack.
my second outing I had an apple and a banana.
this rack is just perfect for a few articles, next time I may bring a sandwich!

Could be perfect for "light" touring rides....A baguette, bottle of wine and some fromage on that rack and you will be happy!

I know this is the C&V area, but I feel compelled to point out the Tubus Fly. 0.33kg, tubular welded chromoly, capacity 40lbs (though I know many people who have loaded them well beyond that). There's a stainless steel version for those who want to keep the vintage-y silver look.

Tubular chromoly or stainless racks are stronger and lighter than anything made out of solid aluminum; there's a reason why custom builders work almost exclusively with chromoly/stainless.
My "heavy" VO porteur rack is less than 1kg and it's pretty huge.

FWIW: I picked up this Peugeot that had a set of ESGE racks on it and some substantial panniers. PO toured Europe on it. Given the size of the bags, they must have handled a serious load. Bike and bags have moved on to a new home.
