Nice Motobecane @Kabuki12 .. Especially in your neighborhood for under a Benjamin. But you parked the bike in front of a CNC lathe. Am I seeing that right? That is a manual feed wheel. Cool. Is this your workplace?

Do you have to deflate you rear tire to clear the fender to get the rear wheel on/off?

I'm sorry I have no information about the builder, but I sure would like to see a couple photos of the seat stay/seat lug junction. Is there a blind binder bolt coming in from the other side?

Hmmmm. Do you have the fender dimpled and extending below the chain stay bridge? Or does it stop just above it? I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up the zeppelins on my PX-10. Guessing the geometry is slightly different on the PVN, but it looks pretty similar.

Your PX-10 looks a lot more like my ’75 PX50L than this PVN and clearance-wise, it’s not a bad thing. Originally I wanted to use 650-42b:s, but 38 is the absolute max usable width for this bike with fenders.

Front fender is dimpled, rear is not. Rear fender extends between chainstays and thus, is connected to chainstay bridge using straight bolt. I did cut the rear fender sides to closely follow chainstay shape (using dremel-like tool) and attachment point is reinforced using large square washer, which is also radiused to follow fender’s cross-section shape.

this is my tool grinding shop. That is a CNC tool grinder. I had two of them and we used them for making carbide tools for a while when I had employees. I sold them and I do custom tools manually , old school style. There ain’t too many of us left. Thanks for the compliment, it looked better in the photo than it really was but it turned out nice.

My latest build for the Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange
1987 Peugeot Ventoux
This month’s bike is named in honor of Mt. Ventoux, an especially difficult stage of the Tour de France where contestants have to scale the peak not once but twice on the same day. While not a team bike, at just over 23 pounds and fitted with alpine gearing, it should be a great climber.
Found in the Attic at the Bike Exchange as a frame only, it was assembled with high quality running gear. A Trek chrome molly fork with forged ends was installed and Shimano 600 tri color mech. was used for the crank and derailleurs. The wheels are Mavic Open Pro’s on 105 hubs with Victorio Rubino tires. The rear cassette is an 8 speed Sun Race hyper glide with 12 – 28 tooth cogs and the chain rings have 39 and 52 teeth respectively shifted by Shimano indexed bar end shifters.
The braking is done by an Ultegra dual pivot up front and a Dia Comp 500 e at the rear. The cockpit consists of a forged stem and Specialized bars with ergo levers.
Last but not least is a nice Stella Italia leather saddle.
This bike is a real eye catcher that will appeal to the vintage lover with a sense of style.

The latest incarnation of my 1975 Peugeot A0-8: Fixed gear for fun!
This is my first fixed-gear and I like the altogether different riding experience. Miche fixed hub in the back laced to a CR18, and a Normandy high-flange in the front laced to same. The crank is from a bike shop in Toronto that does a lot of single-speed and fixed-gear builds paired with a VO "fixer" bottom bracket as the threads on this frame were pooched. Saddle is an Avocet racing type found in a bin at the co-op. I sourced the handlebar on French eBay, I think it is '50s vintage - I really like the alloy stem design, plus the brake levers are the original upon which the VO city levers are based. The original rubber grips were petrified - I think that is the term. Years ago in undergrad I had a '60s U08 with upright bars and black grips and I liked that, so I sleuthed around and a pair of Hunt-Wilde grips (still made in the States!) were located. I am getting used to the one brake - jury still out on that point. Front brake is a place-holder while I figure out whether I want to find an appropriate dual-set that are more aesthetically pleasing. Tires are Continental GP5ks with a cream wall in 28mm, as I plan to eventually run some French fenders I found on eBay with lamps + sidewall dynamo for commuting. Forgot to mention the pedal straps - made by a company called YNOT in Toronto and very tough.
