Well, until I got to the end of the post, I was encouraged. Thanks for trying!

The only parts that need the metric thread are the threaded cup and the locknut, and those seldom wear out (the lower race takes all the load; the upper race is just for alignment). If you have the original threaded parts, keep those, and just replace the lower stack with new components of similar stack height.

I have just bought a Motobécane branded headset (apparently made by Stronglight for them) from a seller in France. He measured it for me and told me it was 35mm stack height. Well when it arrives I will let you know if it fits.
I noticed someone on eBay in the USA selling one (mtr0089 in Neeah, Wisconsin) but import charges made me look to Europe (though I get charged more after dammed Brexit). It was on for $79.99 but watching it they gave me an offer of $24…..
Well hopefully that is one problem down, now just having to drill out the adjusting screw in the drop out, I hate doing that….

Total stack height 26.42 + 11.38 = 37.80mm. This is without any compression from tightening with bearing inside. The total was included so you could see the depth inside, if you wanted it….
Is that a nice postage stamp or what?

But (someone always said anything before the word but was HS…lol), the bottom crown race. I took a gamble and it was 26.5mm not the 27mm of my fork…sigh you can’t win them all with French bikes, that’s why I love ‘em! I will just get the race skimmed 0.5mm internally. Just so your ready….!
