Hybrid touring/gravel conversion w/ alt bars
Hello all,
I'll be doing a multi state tour in a few months and have been debating what bike to use. I have a road bike but I'm leaning towards using my Specialized Sirrus Pro and making a few changes to it. After the tour is done, I'm planning to then use the Sirrus as the bike for mild gravel and sizing up the tires.
Has anyone else converted their hybrid like this? Bonus points if you've installed Velo Orange Crazy Bars. I'D love to hear your experience with them and see some pictures. Tips on wrapping them with bar tape would also be great.
Thanks in advance

I really like the Satori Wien bar I recently bought. It's 680mm wide and has a 35 degree backsweep, which is actually very similar to the Velo Orange Crazy Bars, or at least the sweep is. I think 780mm would feel pretty wide, at least at first. Maybe it'd be something to get used to.
But I like the 35 degree backsweep. I like it better than bars with 45 degree sweeps, which put my wrists in an unnatural position. I think anything in the 20-35ish degree range is pretty comfortable...that sweet spot in the middle. The Satori bar is not very spendy, either, which is a plus.

This Satori bar has a very long grip area, so you could absolutely put some small bar ends in the middle (similar to the VO Crazy Bar) and get them positioned exactly the way you want.

I just (as in last evening) put Crazy Bars on my Giant Escape - still need to wrap the bullhorns. Hoping I can get a few hours of decent weather to try them out.

I went with these and liked the feel on my wrists. The issue I had with this setup was not enough area for alternet hand placement options. I like the previous setups
that gives you more flexibility and possible comfort.
Be safe, Frank.

I have one of these also and they do work well for medium-sized phones. It's a stretch (literally) if your phone is on the larger side.
