As part of reducing the fleet to two road bikes, today I transplanted the bars and stem from the Ironman to the Trek 414. I will later have to transplant the front brake calipers from the Trek 930 also. The 414 was built around 27" wheels.
I'm suddenly rich in quality components. And wheels. I have never had enough wheels.

One of these days I'll pack both framesets, and whatever else will fit, and carry them back North, to sell. They will be liberation. Imagine it. Just two road bikes. Wow!
The wheels I can likely sell here. Or not.
Oddly, both of the keepers are dark blue. A very similar shade. When I'm feeling less tired I'll roll them out into the sun and take a pic.

There used to be a tv program about a well known medical examiner called Dr G. Some of the cases stuck with me. One was a nurse about 34 years old when she passed. The Dr discovered necrotic tissue in the esophagus all the way down to the lungs. It seems the nurse had snorted large amounts of cocaine for years and that plus all the impurities had done the damage.

Well I see what the problem is……….
So the black oval shape is the varia. It’s the car radar you will see people talk about on here. Mine probably threw you off because there is no light with it. I had a great tail light already so I elected to save 50 dollars and get just the radar.
Because the seat post is “aero”, it’s actually called a mast. it’s really narrow but long length wise. The varia came with a mount to work on “all bikes” but it used a piece of rubber and these hard rubber bands to hold the varia in place on the back of the “mast.”
It worked okay in the beginning but over time the band stretched out, it resulted in the varia moving around while I was riding. A friend of mine at trek who also has a madone and varia came up with a solution. I had no idea he did this, he called me a couple of days ago and told me to come in and pick it up.

When I did the R8000 build on the Litespeed, I made the chain 2 links longer than Big/Big, and discovered it had slack, so I opened the Shimano Quick Link I'd JUST installed, cut out a link, and put it back together with the same Quick Link. I did a quick check, and people DO reuse them without incident, but I figured I'd order a couple KMC links anyway.
Which reminds me, I really should actually order those.....

Hmmm, come to think of it I used to take my chain off the cervelo all the time to clean it. I always re used the quick link. I was going to say, it’s shimano so I’m not all to concerned…….. But…… I just remembered I rub sram on that as well.
I don’t think I have dropped this chain yet, but the last one I took off atleast once a month if not more.
