$20 Legnano...

I am a Legnano fan and my only for sure keeper is my long owned 1968 Gran Premio...

However, today I scored Legnano GP #3 and for the price of a CND six pack...

It should buff up nicely!-(

Not really. I bought it for the brakes, head badge, bars and seat post bolt. That little harvest, to me, is worth twenty bucks and then some...

There appears to be something pantographed into the bars. Anxious to see more when I get to disassembly...

Components make it a win. Is that fork bent weirdly? I know it is a cliche meme on here to ask but it actually looks a bit noodley

Those look like early T.T.T. (Tecno Tubo Torino) handlebars, before they officially became 3TTT.

Top and down tube look wonky too. Could be the pic, but a straight edge would solve the question.

Thank you, Tom. That adds a wee bit more value to my twenty dollar purchase. I am looking forward to removing the head badge. I can't help but wonder if it can be cleaned up with a positive result.

-----

the 3TTT Tourist stem & bar set brings it into the mid-1960's

if it were fifties or very early sixties it would have been fitted with Ambrosio

since both round things are replacements there will be no useful date there

serial can be checked at Mark's site

if you do a part out the Bates style fork may have some value

Taking a closer look, this looks lower than a Gran Premio. It has stamped dropouts while the Gran Premio typically had Campagnolo forged dropouts at the rear. I believe this may be a Mezza Corsa.

Bud Light, ,my choice, $16 plus tax and my favorite, Rickards $18.50. So, no, not twenty but close enough when I pay for gasoline ($2.12 per liter or $6.50 per gallon) to make the thirty mile round trip to buy my Buds.

It’s “Canadian.” Probably illegal here.
Now that hockey season is over, beer deflation.
But I hear next week, when summer ends, hockey season starts again.

Whew. Close enough is right.

Neat score.

Randy lives in Ontario. Beer in Quebec is cheaper and easier to find in your local depanneur which will be just down the street

Thunder Bay is about 900km or 560 miles to the closest hole in the ground in Quebec where he might have a chance at saving a few bucks on some Molson Dry.

I love how this thread went from the joy of a $20 Legnano to the price of beer in Canada. 🤣🤣

Keep us posted on the progress and I may (ahem!!) be interested in some of the not wanted. (Help a fellow Leggie brother out!)

Looks like it has the rear brake cable stop/release. That alone is worth the $50 entry fee.

I'm restoring a mid 60's Legnano Gran Primo to Italian city bike configuration, and live in Vancouver BC. I'd be interested in the wheels if they are original - PM me if you want to sell/trade. Good catch BTW, especially for the price of 6 Sleemans.

Hey, wait a minute. Where's the rear derailleator? 🤔😁 Glad you got it, Randy. 👍 I was worried you might jinx yourself, talking about it in another thread, lol. 😉

The wheel's on the OP's bicycle are incorrect for a 1960s Gran Premio.

Didn't notice that, but very well could be. I would imagine this is mostly going to be a donor bike for Randy for the next bike his Legnano-magnet finds at the junk yard or laying against a fence, or in a snow drift.

The bike's wheels were not matched (big surprise considering the condition of the frame and fork) so I left them where I found the bike. I could get them but, in my opinion, they are not worth a pinch of gopher poo. Everything else is for sale, including the Legnano pantographed crank set (kinda rusty but I am hoping that it will clean up). The rear brake cable hanger is also a victim of oxidatiion but could be salvaged with a re-chroming (I don't re-chrome anything, too environmentally unfriendly in my opinion).

Anyway, the Legnano Bendino is leaning against the wood pile, in my back yard. Will have a closer look at it tomorrow after my round of splitting and piling firewood. Looking forward to harvesting the good stuff and then the damaged frame/fork is dump bound.
