a few shots from Sunday's ride just west of the St. Louis area.
Generally, it's a hilly, wooded area, which is a nice change from the cornfields of central Illinois.
The price that one must pay is dragging one's carcass up the hills! The hills vary, but can be up to 500 feet and 10% grade.

a couple of photos from Wild Horse Creek road, on a flatter section on top of a ridge...

and, if this gets linked properly, a fun downhill run on Melrose road, in Rockwoods Reservation in the area of Wildwood, Missouri.
I had to stop recording the video when I got to the steep section near the bottom of the hill.

I finally shot some pictures from behind bars. We have a lot of tree-canopy-covered roads here in New York State's Hudson River Valley which are a delight.

thanks!
The award should be something like "dumb enough to risk frostbite for a photo".
Of course, I was goofy enough to be out biking on a day like that anyway. Beats riding the trainer, though.

Not many bikes I trust me/machine enough to ride no hands, while unlocking my phone and taking a picture. New C.N.C.

Sunday was a surprisingly cool day for August.. low 80's, so I went down to Alton, IL for a long ride along the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. This is a stretch between Alton and Grafton, on highway 100. Wonderfully scenic, and the fluffy clouds just add to it!

was out for an evening bike ride and thought I'd see what the camera can do in low light.
the answer is: not so great. Still, it looks nice, if blurry.

a photo while riding...
not that bad considering that the shutter speed is 0.4 seconds.

a bit later, I tried a photo while stopped. The light had continued to go down, so the shutter speed is 1/2 second.
You can see Venus just above the road sign.

@Germany_chris Sweet, how do you like the tires?

Good one today. 85 mi and ~5400’ climbing. Plenty of steep stuff.
