User control panel > Edit Options > messaging & Notification.
After that you might need to go down to
User control panel > Subscribed Threads > list subscriptions
Clear them all or select individually and choose action in drop box near bottom of list

I'm no longer receiving emails, but they show up as notifications here. The same as private messages. I've been in the control panel multiple times and can't figure out how to turn them off.

I turned off notifications. I still get notifications when people like my posts.
on edit: it's at the bottom of "user cp" There is a link to "user tagging" It has all that stuff like quote notifications

I just turned off notifications for likes, and either it didn't stick or it doesn't actually work.
But I never get notifications for anything else
