Francesco Moser Pista San Cristobal
Hello everyone, I am a cycling enthusiast. I'm about to buy a Francesco Moser Pista. I went to see it and it is in good condition but I noticed that the letters that go on the frame of the bicycle are rare, that is, they are painted. It has some stickers that look original but the word that goes in the frame that says "Francesco Moser" has flaws in its shape. My question is how to know that the bike was not painted and the decals were redone.
I am attaching images so that you can help me ... because if it has been painted, its price drops considerably.

My recently sold Moser, which if I recall, looks like Manny66’s had painted on graphics like the pic above. It also had 51.151 pantographs and stickers from Moser’s hour record. I’ve guessed it was mid to late 80’s that Moser either changed ownership or contracted with a different builder that they went with the “F Moser” stickers.
As a general comment, there are regular threads here where a buyer is concerned that a particular bike is a fake. In general these fears are overblown in the vintage bike market except for maybe the “owned/ridden by a pro” or some other rare and unique bike. It is a huge problem in the carbon fiber bike world where a $300 generic frame can be stickered up to look like a $3000 frame. It’s a small criminal mind though that spends a few hours to turn a $250 frame to a $350 frame.
