MUP bridge over Knoxville in Peoria IL. The shop in the background is where my son works.

However, in icy conditions, it's extremely dangerous! I've ended up walking the bike on various instances, and recently figured out a good way to avoid the bridge and just take the road to get across Knoxville.
In other Peoria bridge news, I finally checked out the work on the Bob Micheal (sp?) bridge. The shoulder on the south side has been left open for pedestrians and bikes while the bridge deck is being removed and replaced. They even set up overhead lighting for the shoulder! Very nice!

That bridge has been a huge boon to bike transportation in eastern Peoria and to recreation in general!

SNETT Blackstone, MA
Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, CT
Woops - the Raleigh is quite old, but the Nishiki doesn't quality here.

Chilkoot River. No bears in this picture but vintage South Salem Cycleworks vest.
The rear “bottle” holds a bear spray canister.

Lovely day today, so I rode the International over to East Peoria to join some friends for a ride. This involves crossing the Illinois river, via the Bob Michel bridge, so I thought it was a good opportunity to stop and grab a couple of quick pics...
The day started with temperatures around 40F, and ended with temps nearing 70F, so the Carradice ended up carrying a vest, leg warmers, and arm warmers. Nice day!

Humble bike on a bridge - a full-on department store bike, Vulcan DL10 with Shimano Eagle rear der/Thunder Bird front der, hub wing nuts on the front wheel, suicide brake levers, all sorts of fun.
Heavy and some frame rust but it cleaned up nicely and was capable enough for adventures for a while. Now sold on, it was a little small for me.

Empty is great, and brand new construction is good too. For about 3 months we had a new highway spur all to ourselves

Ubiquitous prefab path bridge; headwaters of White Rock Creek.
Fun fact: FDR was president when that Sturmey-Archer AW was made.
