Trek 7.5 FX Upgrade
finally showed some love to mrs t2p 2007 7.5 FX
the upgrades include:
Bontrager stem (31.8)
Easton EC90 low rise handlebar
Thomson Masterpiece seatpost
Terry Butterfly Ti seat
HG80 11-28 cassette
HG93 chain
GravelKing SS 700 x 35 tires ; SV18 tubes
DT RWS skewers
VP-538 pedals
King cage
weight before upgrades: 24.6 lbs
weight after upgrades: 22.0 lbs

That's some nice weight savings! Thompson seat posts are really nice additions to any bike.

yes - big difference
tires are a tad wider - but yet weigh less and probably roll better
the seatpost / seat combo was a big upgrade ... the OEM seatpost and seat weighed 700 g - the new post and seat weigh just over 400 g
the new stem / bar / grips subtracted another 200 g
pedals - 150 g less ... combine with removed wheel reflectors (50 g) that was another 200 g subtracted
the shorter stem / wider bar combo appear to be a win - and so far (after one 20 mile ride) the seat is also a win ... but ya never know with seats ... I’m apparently one of the rare ones that can tolerate just about any seat (although I do have preferences) - but that’s not often the case

How did you decide on the VP-538 pedals? I see Cambria has them on sale for $12 right now.

went with VP-538 pedals on a few bikes because they met this criteria : plastic body - lightweight (260 g) - decent quality - low cost ($20)
