I just discovered this amazing cover by Disturbed. A heavy metal band I was never aware of.
Originally done by Simon & Garfunkel....The Sound of Silence. I remember listening to it as a young lad when it came out in the '60's.

I have heard some cuts from Robert Plant & Alison Krauss that @jamesdak referenced and they were great.

I saw the R&R HoF nominees and have a soft spot for Eurythmics.
Four decades ago Annie Lennox was a 'between marriages' heart throb.

Recently discovered she still kinda is.

Old means how old would be really old?

Good music is still good music, no matter the age of the composition.

Thanks for the Eurythmics vids.

Love the lyrics -
Rock, with enough diversity to overcome the 'lack of a large portfolio' that I have heard as a reason to keep them out.

You can vote for the finalists @
www.rockhall.com
You have to give an email address.

and it would be impossible to plug Eurythmics for R&R HoF and ask your vote (daily) without also wishing you Sweet Dreams.

That is an amazing version of this song. They've got some other good ones too but nothing that carries the power of this perfomance.

The imagery was fantastic on the Official Video but I found this Live version on Conan and I think it's even better!

Great song indeed. My tastes are all over...love Blues and British take on Blues. Rock from 60's-80's, old, old western swing (Bob Wills) and classic American Country. Classical, Zydeco, Cajun little bit of everything.

Oh yeah, Samantha Fish is awesome. Joe Bonamassa as well. I also recommend Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks and pretty much anything by the Allman Brothers.

Again "old farts music" has a melody, and you can understand what the singer is saying.

Baloney!
I only can decipher half the words sung by Aretha on this song but UNDERSTAND everything she is singing about.

You should expand your horizons.

Sometimes, when I`m taking a leisurely ride through the park, I find myself singing this song.

You can`t be in a bad mood singing this tune.........

Thank you all - for voting Eurythmics in the R&R HoF.

Dolly P does not thank you. Now she has to Fake a rock & roll song. I want to see a Pete Townsend guitar smashing song by Dolly on stage at the New Old Opry House. Dolly goes Pete! Oh yeah, that would be funny.

I have very eclectic tastes in music, everything from traditional Celtic, all manner of blues, some jazz, classic rock of all genres, Patsy Cline,....... I'm all over the map musically but lately I've been listening to a lot of a Canadian power metal band called Unleash The Archers and these 3 young ladies from Monterey, Mexico. The Villareal sisters, better known as "The Warning". The drummer and bass player are still in their teens, the lead vocal/guitar is just 20 or 21 and they've been playing together for over half their lives.

Why aren't BÖC in the hall yet???

Kiss, Green Day, Abba, Pearl Jam, Heart and now Judas Priest ... but no BÖC? That's just dumb.

The Rock and Roll hall of fame is a joke. The not rock and roll performers that are inducted is worse than the rock and roll performers that do not.

Saw them twice in as many weeks on the Godzilla tour. Great shows both times.

Perhaps the most poorly considered double-bill concert I ever saw was BOC backed up by The Raspberries. I think it was 73 before Fear the Reaper when they were still not all that well known. The crowd was quite rowdy and had little patience for the Raspberries pop music. Lots of booing and eventually things being tossed on the stage. At some point, something hit the drum kit and that was that. The band left the stage and a cheer arose from the crowd.

At least they open for BÖC and not the reverse ... like Hendrix opening for the Monkees. Jimi lasted seven dates on that tour, then called it quits.

I can think of several times I went to a show solely for the opener and left a couple songs into the headliner's set: Son Volt (John Mellencamp), The Flaming Lips (Beck), Bill Callahan (Joanna Newsom), etc etc...
