I counted the bikes parked in my building this morning. 40 bikes in total, in the locked bike room and the parking garage bike racks. The building is a high-rise office tower, I estimate about 1250 people work here. So a bit over 3% of the people here commute by bike. It is slightly higher in the summer. I'm in Portland OR.

P.S. Let's say a bike commuter is someone who comes in by bike a majority of the days, doesn't need to be every single day.

there are 7 people in my office and i'm the only hardcore, everyday, 12 month bike commuter. another guy rides in about 1 or 2 days/week on average april-october. a couple others are even less frequent summer-only riders.

so this is a hard percentage to calculate because we first need to agree on what the minimum threshold of a "bike commuter" is.

my office is in downtown Evanston (Chicagoland).

Most cities don't have a Bike Shop on every 3rd Block.

150 employees. San Jose, CA. I commute by bike more often than anyone else here (about once a week). I can only think of 4 others commute by bike maybe once a month or less on average.

There were less than 10 people that participated in "Bike to Work Day" in May of this year. Pretty sad considering the number of people that live less than 10 miles away, the fact that we have such beautiful weather, and the cycling infrastructure is actually pretty decent.

Couldn`t say. I don`t even know how many other bikes are parked at the bike rack (where they`re supposed to be) because for the past two or three years I`ve been parking illegally at a back door. If it looks like rain or snow will be falling during my shift, I do one better and roll through that back door to park in the boiler room.

In the winter, just me. In the summer, maybe 3-4 others commute irregularly by bike. This in an office complex of 2-3,000 workers.

I have seen a maximum of 5 bikes parked downstairs, and I haven't seen anyone wheeling a bike through the lobby. This building is a 40+ story high-rise in Dallas, Texas. So... way less than 1%.

To be fair, the public transit system has a light rail stop less than a block away, so a lot of people just ride the rails.

About 40 people here. Me and one other guy consistently commute by bike. A couple other guys will ride their bikes in here and there in the summer. I work in a suburb of Detroit (Troy)

I'm in Irving, TX (suburb of Dallas).

In St. Louis, more than 300 in my building, never more than 3 bikes, so < 1%.

about twenty people, 6 different businesses. 1 full time worker/commuter, 1 part time worker/commutes most of the time.

We have two CPA firms, engineering firm, Psychologist, homeopathic office and massage therapist. Both bike riders are in the engineering office.

The building next to us is full of land title offices and Realtors, no bikes.

The other office in the complex last year was a civil engineering firm, usually 3 bikes in front. Not sure if that says anything or not, just interesting.

I'm not sure how many people work in my building, but I'm guessing at least 400. I'm the only one I'm aware of that would be anywhere near a majority of days, so that would be 0.25%. (I bike commuted 80 - 90% of the possible days over the past year.) I work in Springfield, MA.

My office building has about 1000 workers.

My bike is the only one here consistently. I've seen one other on one occasion. I was told that someone else brings their bike in to their desk a couple times a week (never seen it).

I have no idea. This is a really big building in NYC, thousands of people must work in it. The bike room generally has 10-20 bikes in it, although some of those bikes never seem to move. Iif there are others like me who take their bikes into their office, it's impossible to know how many actually are biking. In my small office I am the only one who bikes to work, but that doesn't tell you much either.

There are about 120 people in our facility. Another gent and myself are the only bike commuters, the benefit is we keep our bikes indoors. Live in Pittsfield, MA work in Lee, MA.

My current school has about 130+ faculty and staff. I don't commute every day, but I usually see one or two bikes parked here. The kids aren't allowed to ride to school.
My last US school was a jr. high of about 1300 kids. I was the only adult that rode, and maybe 2 or 3 kids even though all the students lived within 3 miles of the school. Riding a bike was seen as "uncool". The result was the predictable traffic jams before and after school.

A solid 5 regular computers with another 4 or so not as often out of 75 people. So 12% on a semi regular basis. There are probably another 10 that live within a few miles that have no reason not to, but don't. So there is still room for improvement.

We've had as much as 15% out on our Friday Bike Lunches that I hold.

Just 3 in my building. With me commuting daily, that would make it 33%. Did we set the record? On the day after Thanksgiving, 100% of us commuted by bike!
