I got a message from my garmin 530 after my ride yesterday (~40 miles, ~2000’) saying my acclimation was 8%.

is this information of any use? 8% of what?

Just curious.

edit: it was about 75 degrees at the end of the ride.

Gives us another thing to argue about.

Think of it as saying you don't need to go out and do that same ride in 95°F plus temps right now. You need to work toward that. But don't dwell on it too much. I've no idea where they come up with that.

Is it useful? Maybe, though I wouldn't think oneself bullet proof for heat just because it says 100% adjusted.

I wonder what they are basing that on. I don't see any such metric on my 830

On edit: The 830 does have it, but you have to have your smartphone feed the weather to the device, which seems like a mistake.
It's very simple, apparently. Just something about being over 72 degrees Fahrenheit

I do not trust or even understand Garmin's numbers. Sometimes, it will give me a message like, "+ 5, Good". What does that mean. The real whopper it tells me? What a lie, it says my VO2Max is 72. Maybe, it mixed age with O2. LOL. No trust from me. Heat acclimation? Ya, right. It is probably just reporting decoupling. Another bogus indicator.

I treat my Garmin 1030's heat acclimation number the same as I treat it's recovery time. They're both feeble attempts to entertain me with numbers.

I don't remember who said it right now, but "'hot' is 10 degrees warmer than you're used to." I may have to acclimate to 80F this week, 90F next week, and 100 in July or August. Being accustomed to 85F doesn't help much when you go on a long ride at 100F.

I'm just happy that my 830 can connect to garmin connect most of the time. Adding a weather service so it can beep quietly about thunderstorms doesn't seem ideal.

I battled to get my 1030 to stop giving me the weather. I would turn it off and it would turn on again. the thing is it would give me the weather when the ride was almost done or after the the weather thing was over.

I'm pretty sure I saw where I could connect it to a weather service and demurred. Maybe look on the connect website?

Ahh…. Ok. It’s like the recovery time. That splains it.

with the 1030+ it has temp built in so even with weather turned off it gets the heat.
