1970s Frejus
I have a Frejus which I think is from the mid 70s. I have had this since the 80s but I have never been able to find out much about it and if it collectible or not. I can’t find a serial number anywhere on the bike, just a stamped Campagnolo on the rear hub of the frame. It has full Campagnolo throughout the bike with the exception of Dura-ace brakes.
Anyone have any ideas on the history of this bike and potential value today. Since I am new it will not let me post any photos yet but can send along directly if anyone is interested in seeing.
thanks

No Luck on that location. Very odd that it is missing. That location looks identical to your picture. Just does not have any number stamped there.
Thanks

They show up sometimes over at Condorino 's website here: https://condorino.com/?s=frejus&submit=Search, because made by the same firm that made Legnano, Bozzi.
Here is an article on the early history of importers who marketed them in America.
The ones constructed from Reynolds tubing were usually charged an upgrade fee, and that option was not available until the mid 1960's IIRC.
I'm uncertain why yours has no serial number. If you drop the fork, it might show one on the steerer tube.

That one appears to have been cut from the same cloth as my 1972 Legnano, except mine has chrome socks and head lugs.

Yeah safe to say it has value. I'd be tempted to buy it for that TA water bottle cage, . This is a nice bike. One negative (and it's not a big one) is that only the 3 main tubes are Reynolds. That said, the paint is in terrific shape which is a big plus.

Well in my neck of the woods here in the SF Bay area, specifically the south bay, I would say $1200 maybe more.
I think its very nice and original. Brings back memories of my brothers Frejus.

Everyone seems to agree that the highest values seem to be on E-bay auctions, but there are many associated issues with that, not least of which is arranging shipping.
There seems to be a consensus that C+V bike prices are down overall. I bought an older than yours Frejus in pretty OK shape, with tubulars, maybe 8years ago for $600, and thought it was a bargain. I also bought one that turned out to be a later 70's, lesser bike once for $400, and that was no bargain at all.
And there is the whole aspect of how much work and investment in time and parts it will take a potential buyer to get it set up as a ride.
Lastly, for a local sale, if that's what you are contemplating, your location will dictate pricing as well. Here in the NorCal Bay Area, prices for stuff like this have remained higher, like maybe in the $800+ range, depending again on how much work it requires. Some collector of Frejus/Legnano bikes might see it, scope out the relatively intact original paint, and spend even more for it. You should send some pictures to Condorino at his website, with an e-mail. He is connected in the community of people specifically looking for stuff like this.
