Where'd You Ride Today? (New & Improved)

Love this game! Recommend the peloton and meteo expansions too. The mechanics of the game really capture racing.
Rode yesterday, on the same route again (that I hadn't done for a while). This time here's the view of the quarry and landfill, instead of the historic one room school house. The Strava segment near here is named the Coffin Butte Olfactory Sprint.

Rode a regular 30 mile route with a minor variant. Down to the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn. Instead of heading straight north I stopped at the Dekalb Food Hall where my son works as a barista. A spot of cold brew and a conversation later I rode north along the Hipster Trail through Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Long Island City and Astoria with a loop around Roosevelt Island. Took the Triborough Bridge to Randall's Island and over the 103rd Street footbridge back to Manhattan, then west across Central Park to home.

59th Street Bridge (Feelin' Groovy) from Roosevelt Island.
Looking at the FDR Drive across the East River.
Hell Gate Bridge.

Hot - almost 90* so staying close to home.
Big horse, little horse and the goat didn’t even care about being the black sheep of the meadow.
Park open. Nobody - maybe too hot for tots.
A shaded spot for the AD Olympian. So comfortable; glad I took the problematic rear fender off. I’m baaad at fenders!
Dry, dry vegetation
Never seen an Elk crossing
Why do we name our neighborhoods? Really mellow riding around here.
Late afternoon long shadows
Nearby Newcastle has a fresh produce market that was so successful they have added lotsa other stuff - pottery and landscaping trees/shrubs/etc.

I rode 30 miles today on my Bates. My first real ride on it. It started to rain 10 miles into the ride. I was still smiling for the duration. The GB hiduminium brakes worked great yesterday on a shakedown run but did not perform well in the rain. Scituate and Johnston RI.

Just did about 11 miles this morning on a bike-walking trail near the house. I ride a little of it every day. This morning it was already hot when I got started about 8:00 or so, I think it was 82 or so then, now it 102 headed to 108 this afternoon and humid (for the Central Valley of California anyways) so it was fine when I was moving. road my new to me rocky Mountain sherpa.

Got some spare wheels and tires I got off a salvage bike fixed up and put them on the MT-200 and took it for fairly short Smokey hot test ride on the back roads and short trails around Fairplay After a bit of riding turns out the tires suck thought the wheels may even be bad put a set of bin tires nice Kenda Komforts lightly worn broke in on the wheels and touched up the true and it rides perfect may just keep these tires wheels on the bike since there within less than 1mm tires and rim pretty good for salvage wheels free trued just a spoke wrench.

48 miles & 5700 feet of climbing on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Forest.
Weird weather: started in the high 60's, ended in the low 70's but super super humid. Lots of fog and low clouds. Only time I've been sweaty and chilled at the same time.
Hills upon hills upon hills...
Davidson did well. Never needed the triple.
Day is done. Love that wagon!

Nice Davidson (and Jetta too) Doc! Maybe one day you ride south on Skyline, I ride North and we meet up.
I’ve felt a little guilty about posting non-vintage bikes here recently so even though I rode one of my standard routes, I felt obliged to put up a pic of the Merckx Century and re-establish my cred. Dudley Mountain road in Albemarle County, although the mountain is behind me and not pictured. Cooler temps today made for more pleasant riding. I feel your pain riders out west.

Did my usual ride but only 15.5 miles. Took the GoPro and recorded most of it. Hit some hard transitions where the GoPro mount rotated the camera to point at the front wheel. Interesting shadows of me riding next to the front wheel! Way too much vibration to share. Need to figure that out. Maybe helmet mount.
We had a lot of rain the last several days which set me back a little. Hope to get going again on Wednesday or Thrusday.
The organization I work for allows 3.5 hours of exercise during work hours. I take advantage of that for rides. They are very health and employee wellness supporters.

What kind of Gopro did you get? I've been thinking about one myself. Partly for recording fun parts of rides to share, and partly to have video evidence of crazies if I need to seek legal action.

I was given a GoPro Hero 3 several years ago. I just pulled it off the shelf to capture the ride. I am thinking of getting a newer battery that has more mAh in stead of an extended pack. The battery lasts over 1 hour. I would like it to last 2.
The vibration makes for a lousy video to watch. Looking at vibration reduction mounts. I have multiple mounts to use and am going to try the helmet mount next. Hoping I don't destroy the helmet should I decide to remove the mount.

Yup per week. If I do it right, around lunch time, it works out ok. With telework, it is good.

May be worth looking at doing image stabilization as a post processing step. I believe that's an option, but I'm not too familiar with video editing.

Took a nice ride up to Alma and the Skull Tree Trail on the MT-200 with freshly rebuilt pedals with the pedals sorted and nicer wheels tires it is about the best riding bike I have owned. Still a bit smokey and hot but some very nice riding no one else on the trails or bike path about 15 miles round trip under 2hrs ride time.

I'd been looking at either the gopro hero 5 or the hero 4. Hero 5 has an lcd, image stabilization, and can get extra batteries. Hero 4 (without an lcd) allows for an extended battery which might be nice. But, there might also be higher mAh aftermarket options that aren't the extended size. With either one, I was thinking about this mount https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-...AGTSM-001.html It's got some pretty thick looking rubber spacers that go around the bar. Should be versatile enough to mount on a variety of places.
May be worth looking at doing image stabilization as a post processing step. I believe that's an option, but I'm not too familiar with video editing.

You will need to get post processing app too. Usually cost some $.

Funny, I thought I was the only one who still called it "Winslow." The people who work the booths at the Colman Dock always do a double take, but some of them remember

Down to the harbor on my "new to me" 89 Diamondback Axis XT. Just finished an overhaul, and a few changes.
