Okay, not a C&V or even a steel bike today, but I thought the wintery scenery was cool:

Should be skiing by now but there is hope for some snow in the next few days. Took advantage of temp in the low 40s this morning - might not see a day like this for a while.

Lovely bike on a lovely day. The cherry on top is the BNSF train in the background. Nice

Came across two javelina during last night's ride in Glendale (near State Farm Stadium as the MNF game was drawing to a close). Ended up between them, with one ahead and one behind. The lead pig was doing 20mph for almost a mile (!) before it was able to dodge underneath the rail fence separating the MUP from the New River wash. Strange situation; every time I tried to go around past it feinted as though it wanted to cross in front of me - and I knew the other was behind me somewhere. Sorta felt compelled to hold pace and station until it decided what it was going to do. A bit unnerving, but all's well that ends well.
So far I've missed at least a dozen jackrabbits by some pretty close margins, and two nights ago a coyote crossed the path less than 20 feet in front of me. These wildlife encounters definitely serve to keep one's attention on high alert
No pics even tho I had my phone with me - no way I was going to attempt getting it out to try for a snap!

Definitely keeps you on your toes. Had a groundhog shoot out from the brush right in front of me on a 25+ mph descent this past summer. Missed it by pure luck.
The javelina paceline had to be weird.

Well, the snow (and wind) came in. Same spot as yesterday's post (#18233) above. Glad I got one last ride in yesterday. Sorry, no train - too cold to wait.

FINALLY got to ride the 70th birthday Pegoretti yesterday, over four months after The Accident. Clearly not yet at the point where I'd be pushing things hard, but it does ride real nice.

Thanks, guys. Did 32 miles today, felt better than the 22 done yesterday. Muscle power is still there but need to continue to work on endurance.

First post here in a while. I’ve had a couple week stretch off from work but in the first day off my back went out on me and has stubbornly refused to improve very much. Even more challenging is we’ve had some of the nicest December weather I can recall. Today, with temps in the mid 60’s I decided to try a short ride on Chuck and back hurt no worse than it does limping around the house, maybe even a little less. Felt good enough to tackle the stinger up to the observatory.
Doc glad you’re back on the bike.

A cold and grey ride along the Sammamish River just before dark. First ride on this red Cannondale. It does everything pretty well, notably the shifting. 7700 sti shifts amazingly good.
The beer after was better than the ride, but that's not a bad thing.

That video never gets old, always think of Pink Floyd’s “Learning to Fly” in the B-17 segment. I’ll have to get the DVD out this afternoon, now😏

Jealous of the snow and sunshine scenes here over the last week. No surprise to anyone that London in December is a lot more dull and grey, and this morning, foggy.
Omicron is putting a dampener on our Christmas cheer....
....but I am on my usual quest to seek out some colour amongst the concrete, succeeding with this impressionist scene in East London that looks like summer in the south of France.
I went past the William Wallace memorial in Smithfield, the Scottish Knight popularised by famous Scotsman Mel Gibson in the film Braveheart. Wallace was captured in Scotland and brought to London to be tried and near this spot in 23rd August 1305 received the grisly medieval punishment of being hanged, drawn and quartered, which consisted of being strangled by hanging but released while he was still alive, then had his manhood and testicles removed, was disembowelled and had his bowels burned before him before being beheaded and pulled into 4 pieces. His head was then dipped in tar, put on a pike on London Bridge. They really made sure they finished you off back then, rendering an appeal kind of pointless.
700+ years later and the site is still symbol of Scottish independence and as you can see has regular offerings, which today include the Scottish flag and thistle.
I like the sign on the gate next to this building that has some new butterflies
Art can also be confessional it seems.....
This eye is very impressive, at first glance I thought it was made up of drawn lines like an etch-a-sketch, but on closer examination its even more complicated than that, the outer rim of the circle is surrounded by pins and the artwork is made up of threads that criss-cross the circle, around the pins and back, hundreds of times. An amazing effort for a piece just placed on a random wall in a quiet public alley off Brick Lane, chapeau!
And finally a chance to admire the pink bike by candlelight, and hopefully this lady is not going to be attending any yoga classes with that naked flame

Great pics botty kayer! I always thought Mel Gibson was Australian - honorary Scotsman after Braveheart maybe?
Today started out damp and drizzly and thought the extent of my riding would be a run to the grocery store, but skies cleared and some glorious sunshine prompted me to take the newly built Masi out for a shakedown ride. In homage to gaucho’s recent “same location, different bike” thread, here’s the same spot as my ride a couple days ago. See if you can spot the oddity on the bike, especially if you’re familiar with my bike preferences.
