Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

well, I actually wouldn’t go to a major chain to begin with unless it was a road trip.
Years ago, I was in the drive-thru line behind a guy in a large motorized wheelchair. They served him. I just thought it was amusing.

You can, but you are unlikely to get any food. And you may be charged with trespassing. Very few restaurants will serve someone on foot or a bike at their drive thru windows. Whether they think this is for the safety of you, or their employees, or their other customers, is immaterial.
I wonder if they would just sell you a drink? Reminds me of a very hot day a few years ago when I was parched. I stopped at a Jack in the Box and went inside to fill a bottle. I wouldn't normally do this alone but I was dying. They had one of those fountains where you select from a screen and everything is dispensed from a single outlet. Some girl and her boy toy were in front of me and she was having a great time scrolling through all the options and playing with the machine.

This went on for what seemed like an eternity and other customers could see that I was in distress and it seemed everyone there wanted this idiot to just get her damn drink and move on.

A friend of mine was told by his bank that he could not ride his bike to the drive through window. He went inside and told the manager that he would be withdrawing his family trust and moving it to another institution. Suddenly the drive through was ok for bikes.

There was at least one relatively thread in A&A about bikes in drive-throughs. Hot topic at the time.

I have only been through one in a car once. (Wendy's) That was way back in '89 or '90 in Pittsburgh with my GF at the time. Late night stop for burgers in a red Karmen Ghia convertible. I had previously used the same one on my bike. I have used drive-through ATMs while on a bike a couple of times. No one cared.

Ew. They should add some food coloring or something to make that look more appealing. Maybe a nice amber color.

If "road" implied "paved", there'd be no such terms as "paved road", "dirt road", or "gravel road", your recalcitrance notwithstanding.

How confident are you in quick links? I've never used them on road bikes except for emergency repairs. I'm also neglectful of drivetrain maintenance, except for lubing the chain, and tend to let everything get trashed before I replace anything. Plus, I break things, but usually not chains.

I ask because I need to shorten the chain on my Campagnolo equipped bike. I bought a used crankset in September and the shop installed it for me along with a new chain I had and it has shifted like crap and dropped the chain ever since. I just realized the chain is too long when trying to diagnose the bad performance. I don't have a Campagnolo chain tool or an extra pin and was thinking of just using a quick link to shorten it.

Is there a specific quick link for Campagnolo chains? Anyone know if I can put my old 10 speed rings on an 11 speed Chorus crankset? The bcd is the same and they look similar. Instead of spending $100 for a big ring I thought I would try the old one from the cracked crankset and see how it works before dropping more dough into the thing.

Wouldn't that be. Interesting that the northeast states are high on the list.

I use them on all of our bikes. I stick with the Shimano QLs on the Shimano chains on my Trek, and KMC links on the others. I've never had a problem with one failing or coming apart. But, then again, I'm not cranking out massive watts all day long.

I know nothing about Campy stuff.
