New Lemond Road bike

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Lemond Road bike

Has anyone seen the new CF Lemond road bike? I found an article the other night but can't find it again. Looks amazing... i'm afraid of the price, but i have a nice old Litespeed that does the trick. I do miss my old Zurich i used to have...

This bike looks awesome. I love the look and logos. I wonder if they have any plans to make a more "down market" version for the poors who can't afford Dura Ace?

Also, this is interesting:
https://road.cc/content/tech-news/le...ke-290819Along with the bike, you get membership of Team LeMond.

“As a Team LeMond member, you will have exclusive access to annual private rides with Greg and his team, in Europe and the USA, free entry into cycling events, and early access to new products that LeMond is developing, even helping us to evaluate and test new products,” says LeMond.

“In addition, Team LeMond members will receive annual cycling kits, including jerseys, shorts, and socks, and quarterly ‘Town Hall’ talks with Greg via Zoom.”

Team LeMond members are also entitled to 50% discount on all LeMond carbon fibre manufactured framesets, wheelsets, and new carbon fibre components that it plans to develop over the next 3-4 years.

That’s a nice bike.

See the story in Wired a year or so ago. Lemond went in on a US carbon fiber factory. Not bikes made of carbon fiber composite, that’s a side hustle. Actually making carbon fibers. Which hasn’t been a US industry in ages. “I own a carbon fiber company. Can I sprinkle it on your breakfast cereal?”

It’s well beyond my means at the moment, but I am really stoked on the 8! I just love it’s a proper Lemond, but all the add-on benefits, tech, and backstory are right up my alley, too…if I could afford it.

I really wanted to get one of the e-bikes for the same reasons, but couldn’t quite come to terms with actually riding an “eeb.” I’m still hung up on the pride and glory of cycling being in the human effort, but can definitely see what’s nice and advantageous about eebs, too.

Anyway, yeah this roadbike looks awesome, and scheming on a plan to get one!

Considering some folks have no qualms dropping $13k+ on an S-Works, this will definitely have an audience. I'd love to own one but I'm one of the poors stuck with 11 speed Ultegra Di2

Based right here outside Knoxville, TN. Also building some electric bikes. Will definitely be thinking about buying any future bikes from them - buy local!

Very nice. Some lovely detailing and graphics. Interesting construction too. Wonder what it weighs?

Pricing is actually competitive in its market. No more expensive than a top end race bike from mainstream brands. Actually cheaper than some!

I have an old Zurich--I think it's 2000--yellow and blue with Ultegra 9 (now has Ultegra 11 and Dura-Ace wheels).

It is a nice looking bike with a couple of interesting designs, like the seatpost clamp. I am the market for it(40s or older who knows who LeMond is, disposable income, enthusiast cyclist) but have no interest in it since its priced higher than I would want to spend.
Yes its made in the USA, but beyond that it seems like a good amount of the bike's cost is the name on the downtube. Hopefully this venture works out of Greg and Co because the last few attempts were shortlived and it would be nice if his post racing legacy isnt one focused on struggle.

I like Greg, a lot. But there just isn't a bicycle on the planet worth 12K to me. I sincerely wish him well and hope he re-coops the money he lost getting screwed by -7 and Trek. He's a true champion.

Price seems bang in line with the mainstream competition and they don't come with Meilenstein wheels either. Not saying it's amazing value for money, but that's how much a top-end modern bike costs these days. I was actually expecting it to cost more being so exclusive.

That is a reference to a different poster. Broad audience inside joke, I guess.

Yup, i live in Knoxville too. I keep meaning to go by his shop and see if they allow visitors. I've been a LeMond fan since i started watching cycling, i was 13. Also, happens to be his first TdF win...would love to meet him one day.

He occasionally does events around Knoxville and Oak Ridge. Did an event at UTK last fall that was great. Don't know if they allow visitors.

I might buy one if it ever becomes available on Zwift, and I have enough drops.
