The handlebar looks like Velo-Orange Porteur. I like them a lot. I just put a new headset on my Poprad, while doing so, I switched to the Porteur bars with 10 speed Tiagra brifters. Since I took the following picture, I switched the big chain ring to a 48, now no need to lengthen the chain.

Very comfortable
I now have the bars with just a slight down angle toward the grip area.

delbiker1 Ahhh nice, I actually have a set of VO Porteur bars in the parts bin, but I had them setup with the VO city brake levers, which I would not recommend, as they have edges sharp enough that one cut the brooks saddle that was on a bike it was stored next to in my garage.

A really unlikely estate sale to find any bike stuff in, but there it was, mingling with the garden tools. I also found a Custom left crank arm with a broken pedal spindle, so somebody seems to have bought the Park tools necessary to fix that years ago. Half-off Sunday!

I guess a set of Blackburn Lowrider front pannier racks were worth a dollar. Guess I need to set up a new touring bike

Well, I can’t do it. I angled the bars down like you mentioned and have been bombing around town on the bike. I really like the bars and the bike is just too much fun to ride with them, so I won’t be stripping it down for parts. Into the stable it goes….

SON dynamo wheelsets

Okay, the wheelsets aren’t vintage, but each of the two Miyata 1000’s I have will now each get a dynamo wheelset. SON 28 dynamos laced to 36h Velocity Dyad wheels, for less than the price of one dynamo. The brake tracks are in like new condition. Couldn’t pass up this deal!

A friend gave me this old Pacer (not sure of the brand), perhaps from 1986 based on the serial number. Needed a few upgrades -- new tubes, tires, rear wheel, brake levers, shifter, grips, chain, and cabling -- so now it's done! Will be given to a different friend -->

Here's the 'before' pic (c. April 2022):

'After' pic is coming soon (after the test ride)…

Anyone have any ideas about the make/model/year?

Serial number on bottom bracket (TH86 10A,436656)

Thanks and happy building!

Today's haul from the scrapyard and an illustration of what happens if I don't get there soon enough.

The Fuji was in good shape until it wasn't. I salvaged most of the components. The Raleigh Super record is a real rust bucket, but apparently the front end was out of the rain so the forks chrome is still nice. This bike had already had a second life and some one had replaced the wheels and put new tires on it. If I was going to do the clunker challenge, I would replace the cables, get a tetanus booster and hit the road.

I found this Trek 920, a '98 I think, at a pawn shop -- not one of the newfangled pawn shops with bar codes and display cases, but an old school one that looks like an estate sale for a hoarder. The fact that I travel with a repair stand, and a tub of tools and parts, may lead you to believe I didn't just accidentally come across a new project bike.

The base coat and decals were all in pretty good shape but the clear coat had fractured and was coming off in pieces. So, when I got it back home, I recreated all of the decals (which was good fun) and then stripped it down to metal and repainted it. I tried to keep it mostly true to its origins when putting it back together while also simplifying the drive train by using a single chain ring. I've refurbished a few old mountain bikes for friends but never had one for myself. I now see the appeal of them. They are fun to ride and really versatile.

J'ai acheté un vélo de course à un monsieur et comme j'étais un passionné il m'a donné celui-ci plutôt que de le mettre à la poubelle, mais je ne connais ni la marque ni l'année, vers 1950

If you can help me to identify this bike thank you

The other race bike I bought also has a stem like my unknown bike. The race bike came from a French manufacturer in Caen, Normandy who was a former track racer and this stem was used to adjust track bikes. Here is the second bike with this famous stem

Fixed up and ready to ride!

Pretty sure it's an old department store bike, perhaps built by Giant (?). Will make for a good commuter that won't break any hearts if stolen in the big city

‘87 Schwinn Tempo

Brought this home on the cheap recently. Seller bought it as a frame and put on what he had laying around, which happens

to include Dura Ace FD, and 600 brakes and brifters. Need to clean it up and get a nice rear derailleur for it.

Two 1996 Trek 930 SHX, one in 18” and the other in 21”. All original except tires, and very dusty/ dirty. My favorite kind because they usually clean up really nicely!

Probably keep the 21”, resell the 18” after tuning and cleaning.

Spidey sense again. I actually turned back around and hit the scrapyard again before heading out of town. Too bad I wasn't there when it was dropped off as it was pretty much mint before getting thrown on top of the pile. It looks like it spent it's entire life on the trainer. Now it has a trashed rear rim, scrapes and a torn saddle. I'll put this at 12lth in line for fixing up for my self....

THis is the usual scrap yard haul. This one almost didn't come home, but the frame and basket might be the start of a non precious single speed college bike for the daughter.
