how to put Brooks saddle on 27.2 seat post?
How can this be done? the rails of my old leather Brooks saddle or too wide to accommodate the standard 27.2 seat post?

The diameter of the seatpost has absolutely nothing to do with the saddle mount. Nothing.
Tell us what post/clamp you're using and what model Brooks you have and we can help.
I suspect you are dealing with a normal "single" rail model (meaning it has two parallel rails) and a modern type saddle clamp. If this is the case, all is fine, and you simply need to muscle the rails into the clamp. It's scary at first, but it's what you gotta do.

Saddle rails and seatpost rail grooves should be on 43mm or 44mm centers (different sources quote one or the other).

Yes i know the diameter has nothing to do it, I was lacking in my description of the problem.
I have a modern (1989 Bianchi) 27.2 seat post with the one Allen bolt fastener (instead of the older two bolt solution, I am sure there is a name for both). My seat is the classic B17 Brooks.

ok update: i was in a bike accident so i have not have time or energy to tackle this. Who parks their car in the MIDDLE of the bike lane, blocking the view of the concrete curbs and blocking the entrance of the bike lane!!!!

I had to force the 531 rails of my Vuelta Bassano to fit a modern Ritchey post. Haven't had any problems. You'll be ok.

Too wide at rails? or too narrow? I used a tiny Jorgensen bar clamp that can be used as either a clamp or a spreader. The rails flex quite a bit. Sorry about your crash. Not to add insult to injury but, if the car was parked, why did you hit it? Sorry....

From the OP's description, he didn't hit the car; the car was parked so that it blocked his view of the curb. It's not really clear, but it sounds like he hit the curb.

I experience this problem over and over MarkForest. I get the show started, and then use my fingers to squeeze the rails together, tightening the seat post bolt as I do so. Once started, just keep on snugging the bolt up and the rails will pull into place.
I have never had a seat post clamp break.

I have a similar challenge. Have a 1974 Raleigh Sprite with old spring mattress type seat with clamp post bracket for 2 rails. Purchased a Brooks B17 which is standard 1 rail config. Can I make this work? Seems that forcing it will bend the washer making it less secure. Thanks in advance for any tips!

I have a couple boxes of those seat post clamps, will be happy to share. If you can wait a few days (I'm out of town) I'm sure I can find something decent you can have for the cost of postage... it might even be chromed.
