Got an e-mail attempting to blackmail me. Several paragraphs long, well written, with no typos or spelling errors. Explains that somehow they hacked into all my devices and they now know that I frequent porn sites and actually have video of me rubbing one out, which I evidently recorded intentionally.
They are going to forward these videos to all of my contacts and maybe even put them on the internet if I do not pay them $600 in Bitcoin. A link was provided to their Bitcoin wallet.
I didn't know this existed. We both got a good laugh out of it.

I guess if they send out millions of them and get any return at all they're ahead. Seemed oddly specific, $600 in Bitcoin?
They threatened to ruin my career (too late for that) and my social life, as if I have one.

On my ride yesterday morning I heard a car engine rev and turned to look- some teenage kid was intentionally trying to buzz me.
Dip**** in the passenger seat threw a cup of iced coffee out the window hit me in the head. I wish I had a camera, not that the cops would have done anything.

Now, knee-jerk... it is disturbing when a team shows up at the start of the season so unprepared to play that they need six quarters to get a point. That's a head coach issue. Now maybe they'll do better from here but that doesn't say "building on last year" even with the understanding they could be better but do worse.

14 miles and it felt good. Temps were chilly in the mid 70's. The discomfort was minimal. I don't understand that but I'm not complaining.
Interesting tidbit:
On my way back, I was subjected to harrassment by young women who whistled at me as I motored by them. I can make some observations. They were blind. They were recently released from incarceration. They have no idea what stylish cycling kit looks like. The sun was in their eyes and they didn't see my ample amount of blubber. Despite all this I got a kick out of it.

I'm taking this week off, having reached maximum accrual of vacation. Just hanging out at home with Mrs. GJ and the dogs.
Today I wake up to find that the City in its infinite wisdom is doing something with the water main. Right in front of our house. I wasn't planning to go anywhere, but now I feel trapped.
Think I'll take a nap.

They upgraded the Garmin connect app while I was on the DL. One feature I like is the ability to add a note. Since I discovered this I use it almost every ride. I also use it for maintenance items, like flats or lubing my chain. I'm at 130 miles since I last did it and I think I will need to lube it within a week. About 150 miles is about the maximum I can go.

I tried to edit the post above, and my post was included in the graphics box. Couldn’t get to it. Or even see it

Looks like Velo's efforts to track BAM while on his vacation were thwarted.

My best friend from high school had one of those, or rather his family had which amounted to the same thing where I grew up. I spent many a happy hour listening to various rock bands on the tape deck (can't remember if it was cassette or 8-track) and travelling to and from Maryland, where you could buy beer and wine at 18.
Where I grew up, going to Maryland to buy booze, then showing up at the dance reeking of mentho-lyptus* was a rite of passage for high school seniors. Then suddenly, the year after I graduated, it seemed like EVERY grade was doing it, all the way down to junior high.
*(We thought we were so clever. "Nobody will suspect a bunch of bleary-eyed, giggling guys who all smell like a cat box of anything worse than all having colds!" we told ourselves.)
