I just got this nifty vintage Italian all-aluminum bike a couple of days ago.
As far as I can tell, it is an ALAN from the 1980s.
Pictures I have found indicate that it used to have decals and I ordered some off eBay.
Do you experienced restoration guys have any warnings, advice, suggestions, or experiences with applying decals, like something that I should know ?
What do I spray on to cover the decals with to protect them ?
Bink

I had the same frame (bought new) with black anodized main tubes. The decals were just stuck on. There was no clearcoat over them. Removing the decals was the first thing I did. They just peeled off.

Without any base material prep (as in an etched surface with primer applied) any clear coat you apply will just chip/peal/scrape off in time. What type of decals are these? Water slides? Dry transfer (rub ons)? Perhaps a layer of clear tape over them? Andy

3M "helicopter tape" should work. Some use it to prevent cable rub, so it has been successfully used on bikes. Available in diff widths/length. 3M Helicopter Tape 8671HS Clear Bike Frame Protection Vinyl - 3ft long x 1" wide | eBay
