My condolences. That's a very long time to know someone who isn't family.

Today I turn 32. Tomorrow I'm leaving to Tucson, Az for a week to train and ride big, MTB and road. Also as of Monday night I'm officially engaged. Exciting times!

I'm imaging you pulling big watts up Mt Lemmon with some epic background music; the ultimate TMontage.

This is the view of the 2000ft ridgeline that is not 4 miles from my house as the crow flies. Though no crows or any birds have been flying for the past few days.

I'm not an expert, but I think that's a fence (and then another, bigger fence).

Is the ridge completely engulfed in the smoke? I'm glad I don't have fires to worry about where I live. Some truly terrifying images and videos and so many deaths and so much destruction.

Stay safe.

Yeah - the wildfire smoke has blanketed our area since Friday and looks to continue past next Friday. It's very gross and we're getting to the point where normally healthy people are feeling unwell from it.

I went to streetview to show what it usually looks like:

the 2nd pic I just included because I like how many cyclists are in our area!

One of the LUX associates lost his house in that fire. Axeon signs two LUX kids.

Stay safe with the fires. Hearing about it on NPR has me sad. I drove through that area to get to chico SR this year. So pretty up there.

Was going to put my snow tires on last weekend since there was a possibility of snow.
Didn't get to it, and now the possibility of snow has turned into like 5 inches and still falling, and the roads are completely messed up.

Someone who left 30 minutes ago texted to say they were about half a mile away so far. Gonna be a long night trying to get home.

Visibility in downtown Sacramento is down to about a half mile. Sac City USD just announced they're closing all the schools tomorrow. It's ugly.

My wife didn't make it home. She left at 2:30 and then stopped at 7:00 to stay at someone else's house. I can't grasp what the issue our there is, but the maps are all red. It's not like a blizzard or anything.

Yikes. Yeah I think it caught a ton of people off guard, was worse than forecast, plus it turned really icy and they aren't able to clear the roads properly due to the ice and traffic, at least around here .

Thanks, and it has been cold! Fortunately it's been warming up a bit as the week has progressed. Currently staying at the Starr Pass JW Marriot with my parents, gonna head out on the MTB for some trail action in a bit, grab a late breakfast in town somewhere, then head to the convention center for El Tour expo and platinum meeting.

View from the hotel late last evening. Yesterday was my shortest day while I'm out here (~2.75 hrs) so I hit up that lap pool on the left before dinner:

While riding yesterday, I passed a bunch of police cars and crime tape and what appeared to be a forensics team looking through the leaves near the edge of the woods. (This was just about a mile from my house.) It kind of looked like they police might have been investigating a dead body, but I saw nothing on the news.

I saw this exchange on our local Nextdoor this morning:

OP: Looks like a body found in the woods near.... If you're nosey, check it out. The woods are taped off and there's like 30 cars over there. The scene is fresh when I drove by the first time an hour ago. They hadn't even put tape out yet.

REPLY 1: I'm curious as to why you posted this in Lost and Found?!

OP: Because body was found of course.

Got to admit, that made me laugh.
