Once you get into smaller or less popular brands the list just goes on forever.

Factor
Ventana
Yeti
Norco
Orbea
Cotic
Pivot
3T
Argon 18
Cinelli
Commencal
Fuji
Ibis
Ribble
Rose

etc, etc.

I do not rate the manufacturer but instead rate the store I bought the bike from. I am going to have to get it serviced so I look at long term. As long as the bike fits me, I am comfy on it, and the build quality is decent is all that matters to me.

Chevy Silverado or Ford F150?

I agree with a previous post, more than brand is the quality of the shop you buy it from. Do they have good mechanics and provide good customer service?

OP didn't say that he is planning to actually purchase a bike. He may not care about the shop or service.

There are really tiers of bike brands . At the top are any brands that are sold in bike shops like Trek. The next tier are some of the better online brands like bikes direct and brands like Nishiki at Dicks. And the bottom tier are the big box bikes.

The way I would rate them is #1 being the best brand and progress assigning the next number to the next best brand. Therefore, each larger number being ranked lower than the one before it, until all the possible brands have been rated. It would be a long list. I'm pretty sure everyone would agree though.

Some of the direct online brands like Canyon and Factor are on the same level as traditional shop brands. It’s just a different sales model.

I only buy bikes from companies who display a virtuous social conscience and from countries whose manufacturing doesn't permit needless advantage-taking of its workers...

warranty & return on warranty tends to show who might have a better product to offer. Usually if the OEM gives an unconditional warranty for a wide window of time, that often means the product is made to withstand the most rigorous abuse.
Haven't ran into an OEM to stand behind there product like that, that is easy to purchase at a reasonable price point. IE: $3,000 is not reasonable...

If that is rank ordered, you are crazy to think that Huffy is better than Next.

I am eagerly following this thread so I can sell all my bikes and buy only the #1 ranking brand. I hope you all figure it out soon. Thankfully, I already know trek will not be #1.

+1 on this. Basic liquid lubes do a great job without spending too much money.

But I haven't taken a bike to a shop for service in over 30 years. Even worse, I didn't realize bikes have warranties until I became a member here.

If warranties and service are what matters, how is someone like me to know what is good or not?

Read the documentation that comes with a new purchase. It could be beneficial to look at them before using them for a BBQ'r starter kit.

Schwinn used to own a bunch of bike shops across the USA, and now all of those shops have closed or changed brands.

There are a number of small quality "boutique" brands that don't have a large bike shop presence.

Bike Friday has one bike shop. Ok, so a few shops carry their products, but most of their sales are online. Perhaps they don't appeal to all, but they have a strong niche.

CoMotion is also a unique local shop. Not quite as big as Trek or Specialized (that no longer make bikes in the USA). But, they certainly have a strong place in their niche.

In S E Asia, you can have any name you want on a bike. What name do you want? Ferarri? Lamborghini? Rolls Royce? maybe Tesla?

Many people don't speak English, but just copy whatever name they think looks cool. There was a motor bike here with the name 'Four Wheel Drive.'

When we relocated the bike co op, we moved all the inventory before we had secured the new facility. Somebody walked in and stole a Huffy five speed cruiser, leaving a number of Treks, Giants, and other bike shop brands, not to mention countless Next bmxers.

One out of one bike thieves chose Huffy.

Usually if the OEM gives an unconditional warranty for a wide window of time, that often means the product is made to withstand the most rigorous abuse.
As a former owner of a Saab 96 with the warranteed-for-life 2-stroke engine, I'd argue with that proposition. Some long warranties have meant poor reliability from vendors who count on their ability to dodge claims to keep their profits.

Brands get people to pay more for something than they would for the same item without the brand. Sometimes it makes sense; sometimes not.
