Good Question:
Its (the 10) is a great bike! But I picked the 9 because it was the donor to the six 13 rear triangle and really changed the face of the bikes that Cannondale would ultimately create. Its great stiffness for climbing set it apart from other aluminum bikes of that era and it was still made with that USA sticker too. Now what are yours?

I'll go with 80's SR and ST and aluminum Synapse as being fairly unique and ahead of the pack, in their times. Later carbon models are interchangeable with any other brand, nothing to brag about there.

How about their original touring bike introduced before the racing bike ? Innovative large diameter tubes, widely available, impressive ride, especially for a touring bike. Set the stage for larger diameter across the board. You could get out of the saddle and stomp on the pedals without the wet noodle feeling.

The original Six13 was a CAAD7 with carbon tube inserts. The original one had the carbon insert in the seat tube, as well. The second one had the flared seat tube and they removed the carbon due to the aterial overlap and without that saved a few grams. When I switched, I had to get a new front derailleur due to the tube size change.
The CAAD9 was the 8 with tubing with larger circumference and shaping....why? Health Net wanted a bike that was a bit stiffer for crits, laterally. Cannondale accomplished this without a weight gain. Circumference gains where they needed them for crits, shaping to help with weight.
The CAAD10 was totally redesigned and was the template for the EVO.
As for me, whatever their latest is is generally my favorite.
I do hang on to my CAAD9 because I have one of the last frames that was made in Bedford, PA.
Trivia: The CAAD3, a monster stiff bike was designed with the help of Mario Cippolini. That was the last bike that did not have some type of seat stay shaping. It had uber stiff seat stays, great for Super Mario to accelerate for sprinting, not so good for the average joe rider.

I'm going to strongly disagree with you on the 80's SR/ST thing. I recently refurbished a 1988 SR400 for a friend and when I got it everything was OEM right down to the 20mm Panaracers. I took a short test ride on it that way and the combination of an extremely vertically stiff AL frame/St fork with rock hard tires (really skinny tires on really skinny rims required it) made it possibly the worst riding road bike I have ever been on. Yes, tires and even rims are easy to change, but the point is that Cannondale meant it to be that way so I am going to judge it that way. And not just in relation to modern carbon and AL bikes, I own and still ride some late 80s steel and had an early Schwinn AL for years (564). The C'dale rode poorly compared to them.

But seriously... I haven't ridden any others. I'd like to try out the CAADX or the SuperX since I want a bike I can hit singletrack trails on but also race CX. I really dig my CAAD10 though. If I get a good deal on the 2014 CAAD10 3 when the 2015s come out, I wouldn't pass it up. Then trade my current ride for a CX bike of some form. I'd love to try some of Cannondale's other offerings.

3. '13 EVO with SRAM Red - best looking and performing stock bike I'd ever seen. (would be #1 if I owned one..)
