A while back I saw what I thought was a dollar bill folded in half, upon inspection it turned out to be a $50 bill.

Found these can coolers on various days, after a trip through the wash, they're usable.


Amazing what can be found along the road, I guess they all fell from a boat on there way home. Today saw a knife, turns out to be a SOG Flash II, in good shape, also found three dollars. Found a new fillet knife last week.

Around here we usually have roadkill and trash (live on the road to the dump) and unless it is fresh possum or venison it can lay there.

I found a wallet in the road Saturday. Only had 1.40 in it, and a bunch of credit cards. So I tracked down the lady who owned it. She was so happy to get it it back, she bought me a nice bottle of Cabernet.

All I've found is a putty knife and a very large brassiere. I stopped to pick up the putty knife. I didn't stop to pick up the brassiere.

However, I did have to wonder about the bra. The only thing I can figure is that either someone was on her way to the laundromat in a pick up truck or someone - maybe a couple of people....or more, I suppose - had one heckuva night.

That reminded me I took a pic of this yesterday after riding past it several times, didn't touch it, let someone else have them. I've also seen underwear, shirts, boat trailer parts, a chain hook, a craftsman 11/32 wrench, and more I can't think of now.

There's a hospital gown in a ditch on my commute. It's been there a couple of weeks now. I can't imagine how it ended up there and I probably don't want to know anyway.

I found a license plate on the side of the road. Picked it up and gave it to the DMV the next day. Hopefully it saved that driver the cost of changing his plates. And a criminal couldn't have used that license plate while committing a crime.

But at one point, I thought it would be funny to see people's reactions if I attached that license plate to my bike.

I've found a couple of Leatherman multitools in the road, and other sundry small items.

A couple of routes that I can take on my commute home go through some pretty scary parts of Providence. I usually find prostitutes on the side of the road, but I'd never pick them up. I just don't know where they've been. Probably no place good.

On second thought, I don't know if I would pick up a knife that I found on the side of the road. In those same neighborhoods chances are it's a murder weapon that the cops are looking to recover.

I'm not kidding....We've had two rival gangs have a shoot out on the street that runs beside the building I work in. It's such a lovely neighborhood.

I've found various tools among other things. Best find was a wallet with $140 in it. No ID or any other paperwork of any kind, just an empty wall with $140 in it. I put up little signs where I found it, put an ad on Craigslist Lost & Found, and no claimants on it, so it went in the general fund.

I found a live opossum recently. After a short chase (apparently opossums can't run very fast), he laid on his back and pretended to be dead. Dragged him off the road into some bushes and left him there. When I was passing by 20 min. later, he was just starting to come back.

A few weeks before that, I found a bird. It may have hit a windshield, because it was sitting on the shoulder of the road, looking unharmed but not trying to fly. Took it home. The following morning, when I tried to release the bird, my dog caught it and ate it.

Of the inanimate stuff (not counting various roadkill), there was a CD with a bunch of photos of some lady (unfortunately, no nude pics), and a CD of Zydeco music (I had to look it up in Wikipedia, and I still have no idea who could possibly have been carrying around that CD in Southern California).

There's a couple crank arm bolts in the bikelane on my main route.. I consider them cursed and will not get them.

I met a very lonely young lady yesterday standing on the side of the road.

She asked me if I wanted to have a good time maybe party with her but I told her I had another couple of sets of intervals yet to do maybe later.

She wasn't there when I came back.

I sure hope she found someone to have fun with.

She seemed real nice.

I went out for my first ride in about two weeks and topped all my previous "finds".

I found a bike - some would call it a bike-shaped-object, but it was fully functional and the tires even held air. It is an old, rusty, Walmart-Special type mountain bike. If I was in a car/my truck, I'd probably have tossed it in the back and donated it to the local co-op. But there was simply no way I was going to be able to carry it the 40 miles home on my GRR.
