envy me
I moved. To a smaller house with higher rent. But the rent isn't that much higher, and instead of being built in 1967, this house was built in 2007. ...aaand:
yes, that is the 1 mile marker right near the end there.

Oklahoma,
Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk

And I've walked it a couple times. Depends on the weather, and how much time I have to kill. It's not a particularly pleasant walk, the sidewalks suck. So I usually ride, or jog on the street.

I used to live really close to work and it actually kinda sucked. You have no excuse for ever being late. Ever! And if there's a chance of you being on-call, you will get called since "it shouldn't be a problem for you to stop in for a moment" (which usually means 2-3 hours). That said, if you're happy with your place, then congrats!

The people I work with are still stunned every day that I ride my bike. In Oklahoma, you drive. There is no other way of life. I hate being late, anyway, but if I am, I can always claim a flat. The only thing more unconscionable than riding to work would be walking.
And I NEVER work on call. One of my basic tenets of life

What do you ride? I may have seen you around town. I commute on an old Cannondale mountain bike with fenders, and a rack. The frame is dark green/black with an odd design (2 triangles in the main tubes), and has a headshock.

I'm either on Boyd (or just around campus) on a blue fixie with moustache bars and a dummy brake on the right, or on a 1960's green AMF 3-speed cruiser.
Otherwise, I'd be on a blue Pinarello, anywhere east of SE 24th, possibly on Lindsey headed to or from 24th (it's where I start pretty much every ride)

You don't actually ride your bike that short distance, do you? Seems more trouble than it's worth unless you add a few miles of detours.
I have a 5-6 mile shortest path commute, but can't remember the last time I actually took that route.
Is it just me?
