Riding in the Canadian Rockies - A few pics

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Riding in the Canadian Rockies - A few pics

I just got back from the Canadian long weekend (Victoria Day) We took our new RV on its inagural trip camping along Alberta highway 11 (a.k.a. David Thompson Trail)
I mountain biked and road biked the same day for 2 days in a row... needless to say, the legs are spent.

The suffering on parts of road rides were fabulous because of the constant hills, elevation gains and the high head winds especially through the pass.

A few shots of the road with its extra wide shoulders

Mandatory wheel in shot pic.

I'm usually there on the May long weekend ... but not this year, I had to work.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to ride in the mountains next month.

I absolutely love riding in the rockies, although I do Colorado and not Canada. The high altitudes are great for training, and the scenery is simply pristine. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip!

Riding in the Canadian Rockies this weekend is making me second guess about transferring to flat as a pancake, north west Germany for a 2-3 year assignment. Hmmm....
