Closest real climbing to South Jersey?
I'm located right over the Betsy Ross/Tacony bridges outside of Philadelphia in NJ.
Typically I mostly do rides starting at the end of my driveway due to limited time.
I am looking to add some climbing to my routine.
I am assuming heading to pa is the fastest way to find some hilly terrain.
Any suggestions?

I live in Philly. Riding from your door? None that I can think of. If you have time to drive to Lambertville, Bulls Island, a bit north of Stockton, or Frenchtown there is a lot of nice climbing. I can make it to L'Ville from my house in Fairmount in about 40 min. early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Straight up I-95 to NJ 29.

I don't anticipate any real climbing from
my front door in south Jersey.
I typically just ride from my home but now have the itch and am willing to drive occasionally to do some climbs.
my area is typically flat with the occasional roller.
if go as far as considering driving to a location on a Saturday afternoon and doing a ride then getting dinner and a room and waking up Sunday for another then drive home.
just wondering if places closer than the Poconos have longer training climbs.

The problem for you would be rooms. Things can be quite expensive up that way.

You could drive to the southern part of Bucks and then venture into lots of hills in Bucks or Hunterdon.
This is a ride from Philly that I did, it is nice and has some decent climbing.

The Sourlands are maybe 45 minutes from you, here is an organized charity type ride in that area.

North of Stockton on Rt 29, just pick a road to the right and you will climb.

Federal Twist Rd., Tumbal Falks Rd. and Warsaw, to name a few. Bull’s Island Recreation Area is a great jumping off point. Parking, nice restrooms and water. I’ve led many a ride from there.

If Bulls Island parking is full, there is more parking about 2 miles south at the Mill, which also has a public rest room. There is quite a bit of gravel road in the area if that is of interest, but I tend do up and down repeats on some of these hills when doing intervals but my everyday rides are loops with 70-90 ft/mile having a mix of flats and climbing. If you like ice cream and the workout deserves a treat, OhWowCow in Lambertville makes extraordinary ice cream from locally sourced cow milk.....their very own.

Thanks guys for the information.
Evesham cycling club does a hill climb not to far from those recommendations. I have no association with that club. Any idea if that route is on busy roads or not?

My main concern when trying new routes is getting stuck on a road with heavy vehicle traffic. I don't enjoy being buzzed constantly.
at this point also I'll have to be realistic and accept hilly vs true mountain type climbing considering local geography.
