Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My LeMond is on Ebay right now. I am selling it so I can put record parts on my Pinarello.

Right before I bid it adieu.

Went in a box to a new owner soon afterward. Got what I almost paid for it new.

Great bike, but I really should have gotten a 59cm instead of a 61cm coz of my short torso even though I'm 6'2" . Lesson learned

Nice! How do you like that compact crank? Are you running a 50/34 with a 11-23 ?

Sin, I'm 6'2 and ride a 59. Fit's me fine. I wondered if I should have gone with a bigger frame but now I realize I made the right move.

Yup. It was an impulse buy because it was in stock, but it has a monstrously long top tube that Lemonds are notorious for(60.5cm) and a very relaxed seat tube angle which made the effective TT really about 61 cm. I kind of made it work with a 90mm stem but it made handling a little less stable with the short stem IMO. I was new to cycling at the time and didn't know any better.

My new bike is a 58cm (57.5cm TT)with a 110mm stem and I like the feeling of a smaller bike - you can throw it around a little easier, especially when cornering.

The lanky Miguel Indurain used a 59x59 Pinarello BTW and he easily could have used a 61 or 62 but he didn't. Hell, Cippo is even taller at 6'4" and used a 58cm, albeit with a 150mm stem!

I forgot to add that a minor inconvenience of having too big of a bike is that when you try to clamp it on a repair stand, you hardly have enough seatpost to work with!

I just recently finished this build product after spotting the frame on Ebay and getting it for a steal this summer. Now the goal is to lose as many ounces in fact as I spent in dollars to put this together (which should add up to somewhere in the neighborhood of 50lbs.)

Why oh why did I stay off a bike for so long? It's good to be back!

Lemond Zurich, full dura ace, including the seatpost more classic looking with the quill stem.
Help me decide the handlebar tape color. thank you very much.

I'd prefer red but I'm not so sure with the red saddle. Black will always work. Silver/gray is usually one of my favorites but without any gray in the paint, it seems wrong.

Stay away from the marble.

Definitely red. The old Lemon Zurick, Y2K model ,was red, white and blue with red handlebar tape. It actually came with a seat with a lot of red on it (but I never used it). Check it out.

P.S., I like where you put the brakes. I'm going to do that (copy that) for my BA (mine are too far forward). I was thinking about that just today and bought some electrical tape on the way home from a ride.

I'm thinking about your red handlebar tape as well, not too bright like the frame logo. But closer to my saddle color. Just trying to add a different shade to the bike. By the way, that Token carbon kevlar
saddle is awesome!!! So clean and hot looking that I don't want to sit on it. Although it looks skiny
and shallow, it rides very comfortable, no kidding.

love this bike, sarthe. it may be getting an ultegra chainring or full crankset as the bontrager rings are making the FD rub the chain.

Sorry, here is the '04. I'm working on a bike that travels - we'll get together this year I bet.

Hey Bankman, that black Lemond with gold is REAL sweet. I've never seen that color combination before. What year and model is that? That is NICE!!!

And it looks like it'd fit me.
