Where in SoFla do you live? And just what kind of "bike culture" are you looking for?

It is my experience that there is a large, diverse, & visible bicycling community here.

Good luck - ride safe...

Visible bike culture

Hi, I live in Davie and there is a bike culture here but nowhere near what cities like Austin and Boston has. Yes there is a decent turnout most times for critical mass rides, and I just rediscovered Markham Park, which is a few miles from my house. I found the mountain bikers there are super nice, and I go out of my way to chat with this friendly group of trail riders. Brian Piccalo has an outdoor velo track...but I never seem to see anyone when Ive been there, and there are some serious roadies that ride out of my area on Saturday mornings. I agree that you can find it if you look, where do you meet other riders?
I really enjoyed my bike riding friends when I had bikes for on and off road but, I just got back into it by building a multi purpose ss. After my Salsa ss And Specialized Crosstrail were stolen, like an idiot, I sold off my vintage bikes and a bunch of parts that I could have built another bike with...its been well over a five year absence, with physical issues. Looking back, I should have bought an upright cruiser. Im sure there are people here with beautiful bikes like on this site, I havnt seen it, my fault probably. Well Im happy to be riding again, and am really enjoying this forum.

@Wobblewheel, you could ask your local bike shop where people ride or meet. (Do you have a local bike shop?) Maybe there's a group you can find on meetup or facebook. Also, check the Strava Heat Map.

Local bike shop rides

Thanks for the suggestions... My lical shops are Alex's pro shop and Gary's Mega Cycle. Fast rides exist in this area... But I have a ss built as an allroad fitness bike and need to find a 12 to 15 mph ride around 20. to 25 miles. Im still laying a base as its my only bike which I finished 3 weeks ago.

There is a road/crit(?) race track by the Piccolo Park 'drome too. There are/were(?) free beginners nights on Mondays at the track, but I'm not sure if it is year round or seasonal. If you are up for that- of course all the info about whatever is going on there is easily found on the interwebz.

Since you are not into fast shop/club rides, if you are willing to come east there are "social rides" of varying speeds almost every night of the week around here - but I bet you'd really get into the rides they hold on the levee separating the Everglades from "civilization." There are several different ones - but sorry, you are going to have to search them out yourself...

New bar looks right!

That cinelli bar seems to have the perfect angle to tweak the hand position to relieve some of the palm and wrist pressure by allowing a more upright posture. From what I have read the Wabi tube selection and where they choose to cut the butted sections prior to assembly gives the frame a live

Here is my Single Speed Tracklocross winter mode that I ride this norwegian winter . Gear rate 40x18, and spike tyres to get more grip on ice.

A 20 mile ride on Winter Solstice

Low light along the Unami Creek

Good part about the ride: Someone gave me a thumbs up out of the sunroof.
Bad part about the ride: A pickup rolled coal on me so hard I could not see the front wheel!

I put on some Challenge Paris-Roubaix 27mm open tubulars and they're really tall, I have just enough clearance at the seat tube but it's a magic carpet ride. I only have one complaint. I don't know why anyone would make a bike from nice Reynolds 725 and not put a tubing sticker on it. And it appears I can only get a sticker directly from Reynolds, can't find them anywhere else. If someone knows a source please tell me. Velocals, ebay, all no go.

Sorry I take horrible pictures.

Right on, thanks! On their information page it says they're the only certified supplier of Reynolds decals in the world.
