On that note, do you have a plan in place to prevent the domain from falling into squatter's hands when it expires from its grace period?

Personally I wouldn't know how to do that, but someone in my Fuji group may. Although for me, the content is what's the most important (rather then the domain) and we have that, plus tons of other Fuji goodies. Kurt, if you know the steps I would need to take I'd really appreciate it!!

Probably not worth the upkeep. Fuji are pretty basic boom bikes. They are still pretty cheap.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion, even when it's wrong. I found myself going thru the catalog scans often, as I and other Fuji owners attempted to determine if certain parts were factory, or not. I would certainly appreciate having the information reposted, and again at my fingertips. Even for the pretty basic boom information.

I'm just going to leave this Nervex Professional goodness here...which so happens to be finished better than 99% of the Nervex Pros on any other production bike from a huge manufacturer.

If that's your opinion, why not take it somewhere other than a thread about Fuji appreciation?

Not to mention that you're showing some pretty flagrant disrespect for the deceased gentleman who put an immense amount of time and effort into the site that was being discussed in the first place.

I still have no answer. They are high end well known? Tour type bikes. Sounds like a small builder that some probably like as its USA built.

There's no formal process, unfortunately. At best, you can try bidding for it when it truly expires (do a Google search on buying expired domain names), but there's a good chance pricing may get out of hand or it won't be in your favor.

You might want to call Tucows too to see if there's anything that could be worked out with next-of-kin (or if they have access and are willing, just have them transfer it).

It's likely not worth the cost, but I really hate to see good C&V domains go to domain squatters.

Hey Scott... just a quick shout out for your Fuji site. I've enjoyed reading the articles, and looking at the Fuji bike porn, on numerous occasions. I just never had much in comments to contribute on your site. I'm thankful for all the effort you've put into such a great site, and if we ever cross paths, you should let me buy a bruskie, in appreciation.

This would be the key. Presumably someone who has been handling Bill's affairs has access to the account, and should be able to notify the issuer of the situation. Domain renewal is fairly cheap these days, so it may be worth the cost to someone willing to take up the torch.

Thank you for opinion! I suggest you pick up the Rizzoli book "Japanese Steel: Classical Bicycle Design from Japan". It's readily available on Amazon and a wonderful plus for anyone interested in vintage bicycle. Lots of history, a great deal about Fuji too.

Even if Fujis were all cheap basic boom bikes, that doesn't mean that easy access to their documentation isn't useful for historical interest.

But that's also not how brands work. A Paramount isn't a gaspipe boat anchor just because Schwinn sold some Varisites.

Thanks, Scott; and condolences on the loss of Bill... I SO APPRECIATE his knowledge and dedication to this site. Perhaps you (or someone on the thread) can answer a few questions relating to the Touring Series.

First, I'm almost ashamed to admit I own 4 (yes four) Touring Series bikes... one TS V and 3 TS IVs... the last 2 were more serendipitous purchases (if such a thing)... and I have pledged to find good homes for the 'extra' IV models.

I'm trying to determine how original each one is. My TS V serial is FL30847, indicating it was manufactured in Dec of 1983, and as I didn't see the V listed in the 1983 catalog I will assume mine must be a 1984 model... does that sound correct? It came with a Suntour LeTech rear derailleur (with Barcon shifters), Hatta Swan headset, and SunShine Gyromaster hubs. It appears to have sat in an attic for the past 30+ years.

Can anyone tell me what years the III, IV and V were offered?

Finally: One of my TS IVs has mid-fork braze-ons for low-riders; the other 2 do not. I don't recall seeing the braze-ons featured on a IV in any catalog... puzzling.

Thanks Kurt, mmmmmm I thought someone from my Fuji group was going to grab it. I bought vintagefuji.com because it meshes with my Vintage Fuji Archive that's currently on Posthaven. If classic-fuji.com is still available next week I'll grab it as well.
