Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The inside painting is done. Whew! That last round wore me out. There is some interior/exterior to do, and some straight exterior, but very little relatively speaking. The wife is happy with it.

It’s a Porsche 911 SVSR, built by BBi Autosport in partnership with Mobil 1, and it’s a one-of-a-kind, mid-engine, twin-turbo, 1400hp, AWD, 1000kg, weapon. This meth-fueled monster is intended to be the world’s ultimate Porsche race car build with the sole purpose of trying to win the top class in the 100th running of the legendary PPIHC race. We’ve also teamed up with former pro snowboarder, musician, and internationally acclaimed street artist Trouble (Trevor) Andrew, a.k.a. Gucci Ghost, to launch this incredible new livery on this build. The livery, color, and name pays homage to the infamous 1971 Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig”. Lots of work and planning went into this, and this project is just incredible!

In that situation, carbs are all you can use. Protein takes forever to digest into amino acids and then those have to be converted to glucose before they can do you any good and you’re not going to be sparing muscle at that point either. A protein bar will sit in the bowel and form an osmotic load, holding water you could use elsewhere. “Sports” drinks with big sugar and electrolyte concentrations can do the same thing and I wonder about that Reese’s too. That’s why gels are so small. Complex carbs are less osmotically active, so cause less fullness and are sort of “time release.” Fat is pointless except to make stuff taste better. It’s hard to digest and even skinny people have plenty of it.

Seeds’ point about sodium is correct.

His wife got one because he got one, even though when she comes out on her Ruby she does fine. They both raced extensively years ago so they are great bike handlers and she usually stays in the back. Today he was going to the front and pushing things a bit.

When they first got the e-bikes they would push the pace until the fastest guy was working hard, which meant the slower riders were struggling. They stopped doing that.

I got ****** news today. So when I first start at the new airline I was dreading being based in New York. Before I finished training the pilots had a base bid, and I changed my base to Charlotte. Back in December I made this decision and I was awarded Charlotte, with a start date of June. Little did I know this was a stupid stupid move. I’ve grown to like New York, I like the trips, strictly domestic and I am actually senior enough to get a really decent schedule.

Charlotte I’m at the bottom of the barrel. I got my schedule for next month and its absolutely terrible. All I wanted was the 11/12 off for my daughters birthday and I couldn’t get that. I went from having 21 days off this month, and previous months having between 16-19 days off to 12. Pay is even less.

I am hoping I am back in New York by Sept.

Have you ever ridden it? I rode it both directions during two Cycle Oregons. East to west us the easier direction. Both times were in mid-September. The weather at the summit was terrific.

This pain scale is something i found that i can relate to. I live between 4-6. I'm usually at 5 sometimes at 7 which is when I escape it with a 3 hour nap.

I recently discovered I might have some hope in avoiding major surgery. It seems like I might have what is called a toxic annular tear. This can be treated with removal of debris floating inside the bad disc and treating the disc with a change in the chemistry inside the disc by lowering the ph from acid to base and possibly ablating sensory nerves. This can be done on an outpatient basis. If my upcoming discogram shows leakage of the dye injected in it and it also provokes my ongoing pain, that is the indication what I described above could work. I will ask about this once I know my discogram results. If MoAlpha would like to comment further it would be appreciated.

My only comment is, “Aha, yet another thing I know nothing about!” The clinical head of our neurosurgery branch does a lot of pain intervention stuff. I’ll ask him what he knows about it.

I have. West to east in 1990 and around there someplace in 1992. Loved riding in those mountains.

Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated and would help me navigate this mess. You've been very gracious with your time despite presumably getting asked for help frequently by others.

I saw some YouTube videos by Dr Tony Mork if want to check it out he has a 3 part series and one of them has video of the procedure. This is part 1.

Plans for tomorrow are heading to NC and ride my new MTB at Dupont State Forest.

The total loop is about 23 miles and includes a lot of the best singletrack in the park.

I haven't been this excited about a bike ride in a long time.
