A Long Winter, and Finally!

YES - after a long winter of medical this, medical that, months of ice and snow on the roads, leading to an inability to bike, today it was near 70, and, with some apprehension, I got on my mountain bike and rode the neighborhood. I wasn't sure I could even ride anymore at 83 after so much time off, but I did just great. Snow and rain tomorrow. Congratulations to me!

Congrats on your ride. The cherry blossoms and mimosas are blooming here in Tokyo (Japan, not Texas), and yesterday I did a 20km ride on the bike path at the park. I’ll try to get in another ride there today.

Has it been a long, cold, lonely winter? Did it feel like years since it's been clear?

Strange, we've been having off-and-on rain storms coming across Southern California since the new year started, unusual for the Los Angeles area. Fortunately no snow here in the L.A. flatlands.

12"-16" snow today. School closed. Getting a 988 to open up drive. No riding today. But I guess spring comes on 3/21/23. so there is that.

Spring weather today. Mostly sunny, with ride's average temp. just below 70F. Glorious.

The only tricky bit was dodging the downed trees and power lines, and the road closures, and getting past the nervous motorists who didn't know what to do. The traffic signals were down on Foothill Expressway, leading to much odd motorist behavior.

gobicycling, I want to be like you when I grow up. 😉
Windy and chilly on the rail trail, but better than another long pull on the trainer.

Mother nature is being a bit cruel to us up here in the Northern hemisphere with a day or two of above zero temperatures, the snow melts and the sun is out so wouldn't you like to go for a bike ride? " SMACK" some snow and ice and brutally cold winds which bring out the salt trucks and no riding again for you!

Hello Zwift, my old friend. I've come to ride with you again...

It's a surprise mid-70s (ºF) today, where I am. After not many days, this winter, above 45ºF or so. It's refreshing.

Doing some maintenance on the bike, so I'm not quite ready ... but the weather's sure cooperating. In another several weeks, it'll be full-time outdoorsy weather. Yaaaa-aaaaaaay!

In Central Alabama, Spring can be a mixed bag. Got out and rode on several sunny 70-degree days, then had to put on layers to do Zwift in the basement because of 3 days of freeze warnings. Changing from one extreme to the other means thunderstorms. Still, on the days when you can get out, at least it's not blistering heat like it will be this summer, so I'm taking advantage when I can!

A buddy invited me on a ride this morning. I rolled over in bed, checked the weather, texted back "thanks, but I won't".

35 degrees.

Another atmospheric river is about to make landfall in California.

The tarps covering the damaged roof are quivering, and the clouds have begin to roll in. High winds, locally heavy rain, and snow in the mountains. More downed trees and power outages likely.

As if the mountains need more snow. Sugar Bowl reports 61 feet of snowfall this season.

The past two days of Spring were nice. Tomorrow will be another Zwift day.

You should have gone. Today maybe slightly warmer but rain rain and more rain. Next time have your proper clothes ready and get out there.
