I got up at 6ish and discovered club #2 had posted a last minute ride. This was an alternative to their remote mountain ride and was billed as a no drop deal. They're always a fun mix of riders so of course I joined. We stopped at a turnout to regroup and the lady who lives there offered to take our picture. She was very friendly and we had some good laughs before we continued on. After the ride I went for coffee with some of the women so I could gossip with them, well mostly I listened.

Long day, and it's only 4:15. I went to bed early last night after what must have been an exhausting day, because I couldn't keep my eyes open at 10:30. So I woke up before 6:30. I'd rather have slept more. Since I was up so early, I thought maybe I'd hit the road by 8, since it's Mrs. GJ's birthday (We don't make a fuss about birthdays), but then as I was laying out my bike stuff, Rango came over and started bugging me. Apparently he as some pissed that I had forgotten to take him on his big Saturday walk yesterday. So, I did that. That moved the window a bit. Then there were the 3 trips to the bathroom. But at least I got out before 9:30!
The temps were perfect for riding today! So I thought, "Why not take the Litespeed up Old La Honda?" So, like most times I got up OLH, I dithered about it till I reached the turnoff, and then went for it. The Litespeed's 39x32 low gear isn't as low as th Canyon's 36x34, but it will do. Way better than the 39x25 it had before I upgraded. It climbs pretty well, I must say. I think I got out of the 39x32 maybe twice on the ascent. The descent that followed was mostly a question of my limitations, not the bike's. It could clearly do all the corners faster than I let it. I don't think it's telepathic, like the Battaglin, but none of my other bikes are either. Then I decided to do my regular loop in addition. Total, 68 miles, just shy of 5000 ft of climbing. I was feeling pretty proud of myself and pretty good about my endurance and strength, right up until both hamstrings cramped up at the same time. THAT was a whole lot of no fun! YEEEOWCH!!!! So, now I'm sitting with my legs extended so it doesn't happen again.

Of course, I also find that the people who type correctly at work are also the ones who do all the other things correctly and have much more attention to detail in other areas. It's important.

Went to the Trek shop today with my wife looking for something. They had an Emonda SLR (not my size and way too speedy), and I commented that I might a sportier bike with Di2. She said I don’t have any place to store another bike, and if I got another I’d have to sell one. Well, okay, that could happen. Door’s open. 😜
