There is one for sale on ebay right now for $499, it's a Zipp 900. It's set up with a free hub, but it can be converted to a track axle. The conversion kit is $176. Zipp ceased production of the 900 clincher in June 2012 and replaced it with the Super- 9 Carbon clincher disk.
Good looking out for sure, though!

I don't have any experience with the Renn disc. A teammate got one for road time trials 10 or so years ago. As far as I know, he was happy with it.

Padova C-C
The Pro Lite Padova disc comes in clincher version and is changeable. I have heard it's really a pretty solid piece of gear and well worth it. Probably as good a quality as you'll get for the task and price
* They've also been around for quite a while so you may possibly get them on the second hand market.

That's so tempting. But, I think the discs with that bulge on the outer rim wind up touching the chainstays on some track frames with certain gear combinations. It's too much of a gamble. I remember when they first came out and a few showed up at Masters Nationals. I haven't seen any since that year.

Yep, 900 is flat.
One caveat about the 900, track axles for it are getting hard to find. They are only available on the used market. There is one for sale right now on Online Swap Meet. I think it is going for $150.

The one on Ebay wasn't a 900. It was the one that was introduced in 2010 or so. I forget what it was called. The 900 dates back to 2006 or 2008.
Here are pics from the ended ebay listing:
(to the Ebay seller), That's not a Zipp 900.
This is a Zipp 900:

OK.
Now I'm really confused.
The CLINCHER 900 has the bulge: Zipp - Speed Weaponry | Wheels | 900 Clincher
The TUBULAR 900 is flat: Zipp - Speed Weaponry | Wheels | 900 Tubular

I believe you may be a bit confused. To my knowledge, there was no Sub-9 model disk, however there is a Super 9 disk. The Super 9 disk is track convertible according to the Zipp website as they have the axle listed in the components section....availability may be a diffferent story though.

Thanks for that info.....they do offer the Super 9 in a clincher version as well. Very confusing with their model numbers...Sub 9, Super 9 and the 900 that was called the 909 when sold in combination as a package deal with the 404 front.

The lenticular "bulge" was first used by the 404 and 808 wheels while the disc remained flat. Then around 2009 (?) they added that lenticular bulge to the disc to increase aerodynamics when wind is pushing from an angle (like a 15 degrees from the rider's straight path).
It winds up looking like a 404 and a disc made a baby.
Not sure if it was really faster or not. It could have been just marketing hype. It's interresting that they still offer both flat and lenticular discs.

I can confirm the Super 9 carbon clincher is track convertible and the track axle is readily available retail/new. It's the most expensive disc they make, though. I found one pretty heavily discounted on eBay that was in good shape. I'll be using it both on the track and for road TT's (going to sell my Jet+ Disc).
I've heard pretty good things about the Renn disc, but it's all 2nd/3rd hand information I haven't seen one in person.

I think the extra weight is in the hub (proper DA 7600 track hubs, from what I hear), so I think the weight penalty will not really be an issue. On the other hand, let me know when you want to sell them off cheap!

I hope your right -- was kind of an expensive gamble . But I'm building a new bike up and kind of wanted to keep everything new , -- but $$$ was enough of an issue that the other big brand, the one that starts with M , wasn't an option, -- even with UK pricing
Will be fun to compare them to my trusty Corima 4 spoke combo on the track
I don't know why I kind of geeked out on making sure I sourced some proper race wheels, when 95% of the time, my bikes wear either a pair of Campy Pista alloy wheels , or some other spoked/alloy combo

If they are new, and made with the Textreme carbon, then they will be comparable in weight to the IO/Comete combo. The new disc is actually lighter.

I think there are 2 levels , one level with Textreme and one without ---- these have the Dura Ace cup and cone hub bodies and steel axles, -- so I'm sure I got the heavy ones
But------ I rode a Sugino aluminum honeycomb disc for years -- its gotta be lighter than that beast

Unless they've changed, last time I was looking (last season) the textreme was confined to the road wheels. The track wheels were standard.

A 7600 rear hub weighs 313g. There is a 410g difference between the two disc. The Pro wheels would have to come with a spare hub inside the disc to concentrate that much weight away from the rim.

I can't find the thread, but I recall someone asking about 1080s being used on the track...or maybe it was a conversation I had with a buddy...anywho...It's possible and I found the photos I was talking about (wherever the conversation was) and here they are:
I took these photos at Masters Nationals in 2009. The guy that had them made is from DLV. I can't recall which rear hub he used. I *think* it might be Campy. Not sure though.

I just noticed that HED sells the Jet with a track hub for $1400. Are they new? And does anyone have any experience with them?
