Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm sure the sealant will fill the gap.

I have plenty of replacements after those $30-35 Rocket Ron and nobby nic sales.

Someone sent out a mass email for people who want to help in an area next year. The email said, "Let's meet at X time and start getting organized." It did not say, "Would X be a good time to meet? Let me know."

Nonetheless, four people (so far) have replied all saying they'll be there. No one asked. SMH.

My rear tire on the mtb is almost bald in the center. I don't know how much good the knobs do on hard pack anyway.

So there I was on Zwift, tooling around Watopia, minding my own business as I warmed up, planning as usual to do a spin-down as soon as I reached 10 minutes, when the C. Cadence Pace Partner group swarms past me. So, based on WhyFi's suggestion, I took off after them. For a group rolling along at about 2.5W/kg, they took a surprising amount of time at 300-400W to catch! But I settled down into the group, and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to stay with them. Previously, I'd had difficulty - first I'd overshoot the group, then I'd back off too much and they'd pass and drop me, then I'd chase back on only to overshoot again - lather, rinse, repeat. I guess I've gotten more used to slight adjustments in power, the occasional mini-surge, etc. Rode with them for 10 minutes, then they went one way and I went another.

I'd forgotten that if you did start out choosing 'Ride With Pace Partner', you'll just keep doing whatever route you chose, and so will they. So stopped the game and restarted, this time choosing "Ride With C. Cadence". Average power for the 43 minutes I was on was 191W, which means I spent a lot of time at the threshold of Z2 and Z3. I suspect it would be easier if I turned 'Trainer Difficulty' to zero, so it would just be constant resistance. But where's the fun in THAT?

funny story.
The owner of a local Irish style bar I used to be a regular @, used to put on a biyearly trip back to Ireland. There was lots and lots of alcohol and pubs, singing dancing and general drunken fun. Bill, the owner used to be quite fond of his singing voice and after a couple too many, would put it on display for all to hear. One such night in the middle of a traditional Irish ditty "some guy" jumps on the stage where Bill is belting them out. And proceeds to steel the show from him. That guy, Rod Stewart, was unrecognized by Bill who wanted to give him a proper thrashing. They had to show him the juke box album with his (Rod) picture on it to prove that he was "somebody". There was even video of most of it. It was on vhs, that's how long ago it happened.

Feels pretty pathetic ended it at 27 miles and almost 2000 feet.

Gunna take a break and do some zone 2 later.

Since I started zwifting my legs feel more fatigued now than they have ever felt, yet on intervals my loads are way down.

I was working pretty good this ride, I was coasting down the hills but it the rest of the time I was working. I feel like intervals down plays indoor rides.

Yesterday I did 20 miles outside at walking pace and the load was hire than the 27 miles I just did.

So, what you need to consider with load is that it's dependent upon/relative to your FTP. It's your Intensity^2 x duration (hours) x 100. So if you're at FTP for one hour, you have a load of 100 (1.0^2 x 1hr x 100). If you're at 85% of FTP for 2 hours, it's a load of 144.5 (0.85^2 x 2hrs x 100).

When you got your power meter, you spent a good amount of time with an FTP that was significantly too low, which was artificially inflating your load; any time that you see a ride with a load greater than 100/hour, that's a great big red flag because, you know - that'd be spending the entirety of the ride with a normalized power above FTP.

So yeah, I hate say it, but now that your FTP is more accurate, your load is being calculated more realistically.
Sweet mother lard....you turned cycling into a frigging story problem, you sick basted! Lol

I can hold efforts longer as well. There are a couple of longer climbs around here that are ~30 minutes where I can average 300ish but could never maintain the same indoors
