Wide width slicks

I'm seeking advice on race oriented slicks between 33-36mm. The intended usage is tarmac and very light gravel.

I haven’t installed them yet, but I’ve got a pair of Scwalbe Pro One TLEs in 34mm that I’ll be running next. I’ve never used them in 34mm but have worn out several pair in 32mm. Very nice tire. Rolls well, smooth ride and reasonably tough.

Just make certain they'll fit the bike you are putting them on. Slicks will likely have a little more clearance to the frame and other parts of the bike than will a same size and similar model with a tread pattern. So a plus.

I run them myself and agree… unless the OP wants to run tubeless, because the BJP Extralight is nearly impossible to reliably make airtight. I tried, failed, and run them with Aerothan TPU now.

Yeah, my Barlow Pass ELs were fine for about 6 months then started losing air progressively faster. Had to go back to tubes. I basically never get flats anyway, so in my case that’s fine.

amazinmets73 if 32mm is in play, another great tire option is the American Classic Torchbearer. I run them on my “fast townie” which sees stretches of hardpack, and they’ve been super; smooth, grippy, durable. Like most things, they’ve recently taken a price hike from $35 to $45 (tube type are $5 less), but they’re still fantastic values. I also run their top end road tire, Timekeeper, on my winter/spring roadie, and those, too, are legit performers, so though new to the rubber scene, American Classic did it right.
