Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It doesn't get cold here but one ride I would have liked to do was just cancelled because of 30 mph wind with 50 mph gusts. A small group is doing a route to try and avoid the wind and I could join them but the return trip to home would be straight into the wind for miles. If I go to their ride start the last 2 hours going back also suck, I just did it last month. My best option is to drive somewhere along the route and wait for them. This will shorten the ride but I won't have to do sucky miles at the end.

Make sure the cap isn't bottoming out on the steer tube, there should be a little room between the stem and the steer tube to allow for adjustment.

If you look at this one @2:00 he shows the gap between the top spacer and the steer tube at 3-5mm. I think 5mm is a bit much.

Benson usually gets to decide the duration of her walks.

I used to let Zeena do that. She was a dog of firm opinions, so sometimes when I'd get to a corner, she had a definite idea where she expected us to go.

I did that with Rango for a while, but mostly his idea was to make walks longer, but the last time I did it, he overestimated his own endurance, so now I make the decisions.

That's why Benson has boots for sub-zero weather.

Unless the rain is falling in buckets, Rango is unperturbed. I think he just likes the attention he gets when he comes back in - the whole "towel and rub down" thing. Dory, OTOH, sticks her nose out through the flap for a few seconds, and then thinks better of the whole "going out to pee" business.

What happened to naming winter storms? Did they stop doing that?

I'm naming this one Winter Storm Douglet.

Velo Vol Threat Level raised to three in anticipation of Douglet.

I thought this one was named "Izzy", after a woman I used to work with who was drop dead gorgeous but socially clueless.
