Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm happy to announce the world premiere of my debut Strava Short: "The Squirrel At Sunset."

https://www.strava.com/activities/7368763316

There's already talk of it being featured at next year's Sundance Film Festival.

Sweet! And extra sweet - I didn't know that Strava had a slow-mo feature built in to their video sharing!

Porsche ass of the day. There's still a fair amount of snow up on Pikes Peak.

I can ask my daughter, the USC film student, to give you some feedback. If you wish.

First ever grilled baby octopus on greens. A little overcooked, but good.

I shot it with a high-speed camera and then slowed it down in the iOS editor so viewers can see detail, rather than a blur.

I had to flip it because it was upside-down (oof) and trimmed it because Strava only allows 30 seconds (sad).

Yesterday was a terrible ride. I got 35 miles in, was heading down a hill and coming back up the other side tried shifting to an easier gear and nothing moved. The cable had sheared off in the shifter giving me only big/small and small/small. I rode it 20 miles to the local Trek Store (they’re pretty good in an emergency) and they got me sorted out. It took about 90 minutes because of how wrecked the cable was and getting everything out, by that time I’d been still too long, wasted too much time and was over it. Rode 25 miles home and called it a day. Really wanted 100, but it was too hot and too late.

You have the worst luck. Have you thought about taking up roller blading? Less prone to mechanicals, and you can wear flashy leotards.

It saves money and hassle.

I'm thinking that now that the Canyon is 2 years old and has 4000 real and virtual miles, it's probably time to recable.
