Lulu is 7 years old. A one woman dog, seen here with Elizabeth. Pity the fool that messes with her. (either of them)

We said a sad goodbye to our old faithful friend, indeed family member, Bella, last month. Never truly considered how much she was a part of the daily fabric of our life until she was gone, so it didn’t take long for us to go down to the SPCA and pick out a new one. This is Rosie. She’s still learning the ropes and has some big doggie shoes to fill but I think she’ll get there.

I'm a cat person. Dogs and I don't get along, I've lost count how many times I've been bitten while out on the daily bike ride. I married a dog person. She'd been bugging me from the day she moved in with me (a year before the wedding) that we needed a dog in the house. Three years ago, she finally talked me into going to the county pound to find a small (my one unbreakable stipulation) dog. As is my usual attitude when I hit the pound, I didn't go looking for a dog. I walked around looking for a dog that wanted me to take him home badly enough.
Which is how we ended up with Harley. Chihuahua and terrier mix, and there's got to be a bit of whippet in his genes as it's obviously when he gets into zoomie mode. One of 23 dogs that was living in bad enough squalor that the country moved in and took them all. What I ended up with was the perfect dog for a dog hater. Intelligent, loving, loyal, and . . . . . well I can't say enough positive things about him. If this is what all dogs were like, I'd have had one decades ago.

Yes, he rides in my lap on trips.

He's not exactly crazy about the weather getting cold enough where he needs to wear a sweater.

The rescue said he was a shih-tzu/Havanese mix, so I named him Fidel. DNA test shows no trace of Havanese (the cutest breed north of Havana), so now I'm stuck with the perfect little misnamed doofus.

My German shorthair rescue "Gus" now approaching 10 y.o.

Augustus, German Shorthair Rescue
I think the white eyebrows which showed up a few years ago give him a more distinguished look. Don

Nothing's sweeter than a high-miles dog. He's definitely got that dignified, George-Clooney, salt-n-pepper face.

Maggie and Polly are litter mates, together since birth. We adopted them when they were 7 and the owner started having health issues. They’ll be 11 next month. Their second favorite outpost (after our laps) is next to the heater vent.

Ducks and coots can always rely on Drinka's full attention and excitement, but last week she was totally baffled by the plastic duck which had somehow found its way into the ditch in front of our house, floating around aimlessly.

My wife's Pekingese got a bad haircut and I think the groomer nicked her tail causing her to chew at it. She now wears the cone of shame and gets an antibiotic applied to her tail twice a day. Hopefully the tail heals before the coat grows back.

This is Buster. He's a Border Collie/Pointer/Terrier mix.

Buster is seven years old and moved in with us two weeks ago. His hoomans divorced, one didn't want him, the other couldn't take him with. My SIL worked with one of the hoomans and told him we were halfheartedly looking to get a dog after being dogless for seven years. Buster is the most chill, and the largest dog we've ever had. The only rule we have for him is to not go in the house. He won't climb on the furniture, won't get between me and an open fridge door, and won't beg for food. Right now he is asleep by my feet. Found out I missed that. Next month we'll start training to ride in the sidecar.

So many pretty dogs. I’m new so can’t post a pic of my big boy. A giant sized lab that looks like a polar bear.

Many a day, I used to park where that white car is, in background, and eat my lunch.

Meet Argus. This is how I found him this morning on the couch. He likes to lie on pillows/cushions. He's a really good boy, but he's reached vintage status. That large lump on his side is a carcinoma, and he also has rectal cancer. He gets to do what he wants.
