anyone have any experience with B'Twin bikes?
Hi again,
does anyone have any experience with B'Twin bikes from Decathlon? This one in particular
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-5..._8377757.html#
how does it compare with this?
7https://www.evanscycles.com/specialized-allez-e5-2017-road-bike-EV284027
I am looking to get my first road bike and have been looking at the Specialized for some time and am waiting for my size to come back in stock at my lbs so I can test ride, but while waiting I have seen the B'Twin and was wondering how they compare to each other, which is the better bike? Is the specialized worth the extra money?
any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks

If you don't get any replies, ask the folks in the UK regional subforum. Maybe some of the UK locals can help.

I have a Triban 540, same frame as 520 but higher groupset. 520 or 540 would be an excellent buy, both are great value for money and are quality bikes.
520 review for info

Depends on the model. Gear junkies wont take you serious but until you overtake them on a climb, that will shut them up so make sure you have the skills and fitness to keep them quiet

B'Twin is the house brand of Decathlon. Decathlon makes decent stuff. I've bought lots of sporting equipment from them, from running kit, to backpacks, hiking gear, ski wear, snowshoes, etc... I haven't bought a bike from their store, but of the two models you mention, the B'Twin is easily the better bike.

Can not remember what model I was looking at about A year ago,but I was ready to buy A B'Twin.
Good value and reviews. But they do not sell in the states yet.
So I like them but no experience yet.
I do not have the link but B'Twin/Decathlon are going to start selling bikes in California only sooner or latter.
Decathlon has a office or store in Ca.

They have become quite popular on main land Europe, not only because they quality is good for the price, but also the convenience of having stores all over Europe. Bicycle snobs still turn their noses up, though.

Thanks all, think I've decided on the B'Twin over the Specialized. Just waiting for my size to come into stock to test ride!

No experience with the race bikes from B'twin. But I bought the cheapest MTB from them, rockrider 340, and it has been amazing for the price.
I would definitely trust the brand.

The store in Emeryville, California is open. Bad news is they only carry a small fraction of bikes available at their Uk stores.
Was kind of interested in
Triban RC 520 Gravel Riding Bike (Same frame as the Triban RC520 road bike) both with 11sp 105. $1200
Triban RC 520 Gravel Subcompact. $1200 w/ 11sp 105
I'm not sure if this is this the same frame as the first two.
It does except bigger tires 700x42 compare to 700x36 for the first two listed.
And the fork has 2 inserts on each blade for installing a front pannier rack or a bottle cage.
But the geometry looks almost same on all 3 with only the TT being listing as slightly longer on the Subcompact model.
They also have a 1x11 model.
Also seen a few different models Tribans listed for sale at Walmart.com. Have not looked at the bicycle accessories yet.
