getting the dang gloves off
I have a hand problem and will now need to wear cycling gloves. I have some vintage fingerless gloves with padded leather palms, and they work fine, but are harder than heck to remove, especially because some of my fingers are bent due to corrective surgeries.
Are there some current gloves that are easy to remove Maybe something stretchy?

Ha! I have two ancient pairs of Pearl Izumi gloves which are comfortable and easy to get on and off, but starting to fall apart. I bought a new pair of PI's a few days ago, a slightly different design. Although my hands aren't particularly big, I had to buy the biggest pair they had (extra large), and even then it's really quite an ordeal to get them on and off. Hoping they'll loosen up a bit with wear.

I really like these, plus they have pulls attached to aid removal.

I’ve got a list of ”inventions/new products I’d like to see”. On that list is ”bike gloves that can be worn inverted”.
Appears doable enough. Some clever flat stitching, choice of palm material.
Wear them one way. Invert them as you pull them off. Wear them inverted the next time. Repeat until wore out.

Sounds like the "pulls" are appreciated. I want gloves that aren't plastered with logos, racing stripes and glow strips, so I'll look for something that meets those criteria and also has pulls.

Pull them straight off your hands inside-out. Most gloves can't take the pulling on the fingers without ripping the stitching, plus they dry faster that way too.
I've gone permanently to the Mechanix M-Pact Fingerless gloves though. Yes they look a bit "Rollerball-ish" but they wear like iron, can be washed over and over, are easier to get off and last forever.

Some gloves this works: stick the fingers of your other hand in between the palm of the glove and the palm of your hand. You can try palms together or the other way. Push where the fingers of the glove join to the palm/back. Push the glove up your hand fingers as much as you can, then grab some glove at the base of the glove fingers and pull it off your hand. (Sounds like verbal origami instructions)

Does your hand problem cause soreness and/or pain? Is that why you have to wear gloves? I'm just trying to understand your situation a little better. If you are riding on drop bars and need more cushion, one thing that you can try is to double wrap your handlebars. That is, just buy more handlebar wrap and put another layer over your existing handlebar wrap. If you're not using drop bars, this obviously won't work but just an idea. I have longer fingers and most handlebars aren't large enough in diameter to suit me so to make them more comfortable I almost always pre-wrap my handlebars with an old inner tube. I just cut out the valve stem and then cut the tube in half lengthwise. Usually one tube cut into 2 strips is enough to cover both sides of my handlebars. I don't have any problems with my hands but these are just a couple of things that I've done in the past to improve the comfort of my handlebars.

@grizzly59 has it ^. It's easier to pry up and slide the glove from palm toward fingers than it is to peel them off inside-out. I can't speak to the challenges that the OP has with damaged hands and curved fingers.

I have what I consider to be average size hands. I can palm a volleyball but not a basketball. I use XL gloves, and I still have to wrestle them off bit by bit.

Get a pair of Gore gloves and you will thank me. My original gloves are circa 2013 (or 2012 maybe) and are still going just fine and are super easy on and off. Granted they don't make my glove and I honestly don't remember what it is called as all that info has been sweated and washed out but I have a set of the C5s and they are also great. If you want more bar feel go with the C3 or C7s which I believe are less padded which I do enjoy but have other gloves for that purpose and haven't yet needed to get new ones.

Another vote for Gore gloves like these. They, too, have loops to help you get them off. I've had mine a long time now and they seem to be built to last.

Whatever happened to SPENCO GLOVES!
I wore mine out, but they Were The Best gloves I ever had!!
Can`t find them anymore.
When I do find a link for them, they have negative reviews, saying that they are Not the same as the ones from the 70`s!

I wore them in the 80s. Red, white and blue mesh. Loved those suckers.
