Duotrap vs. Wahoo Speed/Cadence

Hey folks, purchased a new Trek Emonda a few weeks ago and loving it. Just started running a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt and it's working great, but would like a more snappy speed display and capture cadence. My bike is duotrap ready - should I get the Wahoo speed / cadence sensor since I'm using the bolt or would you go with the duotrap since there's a nice spot for it on my Trek?

Either one will work just fine. The difference is that the DuoTrap is much cleaner looking and you don't have to worry about accidentally knocking it off with your foot. The advantage of the Wahoo unit is that it can used on multiple bikes; providing you use the o-rings rather than the zip ties to secure it to the chain stay.

On my Trek, I went DuoTrap - as mentioned, much cleaner aesthetically.

Are you not able to pair the DuoTrap with your Wahoo?

You do have a crank magnet and wheel magnet installed too don't you? The DuoTrap won't provide anything useful with out them.

You series of posts about DuoTrap seem bizarre to me. I know you said you are not familiar with the world of electronic cyclometers and GPS. But are we even calling the same thing DuoTrap.

Perhaps I have the wrong thing in mind. This is the DuoTrap I am talking about. It's mounted in the left chainstay and there should be a magnet installed on your left crank and a rear wheel spoke.

Disregard the strike outs. Another has recently posted about DuoTrap several times and I came into this thinking it was another post from them.

If you already have the DuoTrap, then another won't be notably better. DuoTrap requires a special made space for it.... doesn't it? So not all bikes can fit it, though it is a cleaner look.

I don't know that adding a speed sensor will make your display more "snappy"

Thanks guys, think I will go with the DuoTrap since it's cleaner.

Suggestion: if you're going to buy your DuoTrap from a LBS, take your Bolt with you and pair it at the shop just to be sure both speed and cadence sensors will pair.
