Over on C&V this was on the sales thread. Didn’t know the significance of it but knew it was a 20” mini velo, enough for me to grab it.

A rough project with nothing left of the original parts.

Can anyone spot why it’s “rough”? Should, could be a fast summer ride around my town!

I once built up an AL Gary Fisher BMX bike by making an extended seat post and using a square spindle bottom bracket with Sakae cranks. It was light but the ride wasn't all that great.

Back in the 87-90 time frame several companies built these bikes to try and add another twist to the BMX racing scene. Even Shimano jumped on board with a designed component, a crankset I believe.

Rather then the dirt track, the racers would zip around a asphalt track complete with taped lanes and banks. It even got sanctioned for a few years but... the style of racing never caught on.

Not a BMX Frame or a conventional road frame but in between. This model was built by DiamondBack in 88. Tubing weight leads me to think it’s Cromo. Fork not so sure.

As built there is 8” of drop. Bringing the bar up with a different stem would do some good but the original idea was to be aero to the max. Drops are 100/126. Not sure the rear was suppose to be 130. Info on these is nil.

I just think it’s a neat bit of long gone mini velo cycling history to try!

Looks like fun, but there is not a whole lot of space between the pedals and the front wheel.

I have a small frame around, just looking for some 20" wheels and another crank set.

Good eye! The fork tines have an issue I will need to address. Slightly pushed in. No damage to the frame, thank goodness!

Crank length will be 170 anyway or 165 if needed.

How can there possibly be an issue with the fork? If this came from the C&V sale thread, it the fork should have been thoroughly scrutinized and vetted there.
