A Lotus on the scene at the local Village Market. However, just a few minutes ago returning from a bike ride to Trader Joes, the lovely Auburn was parked in front of the recently opened Red Crown Restaurant, in a prewar Standard Oil filling station. I think the motor vehicle is cooler!

Saw a guy riding down my street yesterday on a late 70's-early 80's red Schwinn X-Tra Lite, couldn't discern the model other than the color, brand, font and that it had a chromed lower fork (from which I figured its age etc). I gave him a thumbsup as I passed. Had he been riding earlier, we would have had to have an impromptu C&V sprint when I was out test riding my Vitus rebuild lol

I spoke with the owner of this very clean 1972 Raleigh Grand Sport. He stated that he was the original owner. I saw this outside of Picasso's Coffee Shop in historic St. Charles, MO.

Today I spotted this Mitch Pryor randonneur at my LBS. Honjo fenders, 650B Grand Bois tires, Dura Ace RD, Simplex FD, Nitto stem and seat post. I was told it was on display a few years back at NAHBS.

l]

Here is a pic I found on Mitch's website that could be of that very bike.

Why do LBS owners get all the fun? A shop in town put on a lil' TdF display... A Rudy Pevenage ridden Gios! (or so they claim). Rudy Pevenage was a career sprinter that had some yeloow around his shoulders at one point, but is rather more known as the no holds barred team manager (in terms of dopage) of Telekom in the mid '90's. Seems mostly original, all the SR bits are there, plus some nice panto on the chain ring, seat post and stem. Saddle is replaced.

Bad pic:

The chain is too long, and the bar wrap too modern, but jeez what a bike. Iconic C&V.

I wish I could have gotten a better look/pic of this, looks like a nice shiny old Schwinn. Was anyone in Lewisburg, PA. on Sunday? Up visiting relatives perhaps?

OY that is lousy pic. I really need an Iphone.

Don't see those very often at the lbs.

I want one someday.

It was in for some maintenance. It appears to have been ridden a fair amount but still looked great.

Looks like the same bike to me with a few small changes (bottle cages were flipped, rear seat bag added, handlebar mirror, wire at front hub, and is that a small chainguard or chain catcher?). Nice looking bike.

It would be so cool to live in a city with so many nice bikes. There are 3 people, including my self, that have decent bikes in my town. 3 out of 9,000.

sloar, people in NYC now keep their bikes outside 24 hours a day. There are several bikes on every block.

Here is my photo journal of bikes parked outside.

Not vintage, but of interest to some here:

I came across this Rawland a while back, during a local bike shop ride. The owner recently put it together, and did a really nice job with it. The bags were made by him.

He found a NOS Cyclone GT derailleur and is running friction shifting

Capped it off with a thermometer

Thanks for the pictures Tom, I couldn't imaging walking around and seeing that many bikes. You could walk my neighborhood and maybe see 2 Walmart bikes.

I saw this mostly original Kool Orange World Voyageur parked outside of a local store. While I was admiring it, the owner came out. We chatted about vintage bikes in general, and this bike in particular.

Alas, it was not for sale. My size, too.
