Headset question for Dolan Pre Cursa owners

For those of you who have built a Dolan with the supplied Alpina fork and headset- did the headset come with a compression ring or washer? Looking at diagrams of every other integrated headset of this type I have noticed they all have the compression ring, but mine did not. I'm wondering if it's missing from my package or if this particular headset doesn't utilize it.

It's been nearly 9 years since I built up my Dolan Pre Cursa with the supplied Alpina headset, but IIRC it did include a split ring washer like the image below:

Thank you! I couldn't find a pic anywhere on the web to verify what it comes with. Would it be unsafe to ride without it? I can't seem to find anyone selling that single piece and I really don't want to buy a whole headset if I don't have to.

It might not be possible to adjust it correctly w/o that washer, such that the headset will have a lot of play in it. Either that, or it will be too tight. This is quite unsafe IMO.
